Allen DouglasALLEN, R. Douglas  - January 25, 1924 - September 22, 2018

Doug (94) passed away peacefully at The Roxborough Retirement Residence in Newmarket on September 22, 2018.

He was predeceased by his loving wife Maryann, his parents Robert and Julien Allen and his brother William R. Allen.

Left to mourn his passing are his children, Reginald McLean (Mary), Mary Josephine Williams (Andrew) and Michael Allen (Gillian).

Doug also leaves seven grandchildren, Joseph McLean (Aidan), Sister Mary Margaret Hope McLean, Christopher Williams (Amanda), Trevor Williams (Anna), Kathleen Hegarty (Michael), Ashleigh Allen and Holly Allen.

Doug gave up the life of confirmed bachelorhood at the age of 40 to wed Maryann and adopt the readymade McLean family.

Doug worked for many years in the financial sector, first with the Bank of Montreal and then later with the Ontario Development Corporation.

In addition to his work and family responsibilities, Doug was also actively involved with numerous outside interests and charities and was a former president of the Columbus Boys' Club, The Council of Catholic Charities for the Greater Toronto Region and the University of St. Michael's College Alumni Association, as well a being a former Vice President of the Toronto Junior Board of Trade.

For those who wish, donations to the Sisters of Life would be appreciated.

Family and friends will be received at the Thompson Funeral Home, Aurora on Thursday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and in the wake chapel at Blessed Trinity Church in North York from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 28 with a Funeral Mass to follow at Blessed Trinity immediately thereafter. Interment to follow.
