ABEL, John Michael - On Thursday December 6, 2018, John Abel, husband, father, brother, uncle, and beloved friend, passed away at 64 years of age.
John was predeceased by his father James, mother Catherine, and brother Michael.
He leaves his beloved wife of 32 years, Tracy, his daughter Devon (Ian), his son Eric, his brother Stephen (Laurie), his sisters Maryanne and Suzanna (Larry) and his many nieces and nephews.
John was passionate about making the lives of everyone in his community better. He had a tremendous, quirky sense of humour, was an avid musician, and in his prime was an excellent, smooth-skating hockey player. John volunteered his time for his children and others as a coach in hockey, baseball and soccer.
He continued to volunteer after his children were grown up and embraced his passion for music by playing guitar and singing at various events and charities.
John entered politics eight years ago and served two terms as Deputy Mayor. His main objective – and mantra – was to improve the lives of the people of Aurora.
No words can express how much he will be missed by everyone who knew him.
Visitation for the family will be held Thursday, December 13th and Friday, December 14th at the Thompson Funeral Home in Aurora from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 pm.
