Kronick JoeKRONICK, Joseph Leon - Passed away on March 10, 2019.

Joe was the youngest son of Gertie Willinsky and Sam Kronick.

Joe was predeceased by siblings Miriam Horowitz, Moses Kronick and Leah Cohen.

Joe was a social work graduate of the University of Pittsburgh. After practicing group work in Chicago, Winnipeg and Toronto, he started a group-centered camp, called Camp White Pine, in 1956. He had the delight of knowing campers and staff from all over the world, many of whom have remained friends.

Joe had a profound sense of community and was on the board of Jewish Family and Child Services and Justice for Children. When the "Out of the Cold" program was initiated at Holy Blossom Temple, Joe was the night supervisor. Joe and Marvin Goodman founded Camp Towhee for children with learning disabilities, which evolved into the Integra Foundation, an innovative year-round program.

As well as loving dogs, good food, classical music, literature and socializing, Joe loved travel. At the age of 6 Joe sailed the Berengaria to Gibraltar, Malta, Naples, Pompeii, Alexandria and Haifa, where he lived for 2 years. He was smitten by travel from that age onwards.

Joe is survived by his wife Doreen (Pape) Kronick, children Noah, Sarah and Adam, grandchildren Jesse, Samantha, Taylor, Gabriella and Eugene, daughters-in-law Dana Zosky and Judy Sutton, and son-in-law Henry Erlichman.

Joe will be missed by his sisters-in-law Barbara Stitt and Bonnie Soupcoff, and their husbands Bert Stitt and Murray Soupcoff.

If friends wish to make a donation please consider The Learning Disabilities Foundation of Canada, 20-2420 Bank Street, Ottawa or to Kensington Health, 25 Brunswick Avenue, Toronto, ON.

Service on Tuesday,March 12, 2019 at 12:00 noon at Holy Blossom Temple, 1950 Bathurst Street. Interment to follow at Holy Blossom Memorial Park.
