Chan SoonChenCHAN, Soon Chen  -  Born in China 1936, Guangdone province, Shantou City. Soon Chen came from an affluent family, as her father was a textile merchant. She grew up adored by her family as she was the only daughter of five children.

She moved to Hong Kong in 1951 and after graduating from high school, she continued her education at the Missionary School for two years before marrying Yih Sen in 1961.

Her passion was serving God through her unwavering commitment to her church.  Through her love of music, she taught herself piano and was actively involved in the church choir for over three decades.  Children always brought her immense joy in life, as she taught elementary school for over ten years.

Soon Chen and her husband, Yih Sen, migrated to Canada, Toronto in 1994; gaining full citizenship in 1999, entering their retirement together. They later traveled to Europe, South East Asia, and North America.  Besides reading books and the Bible, Soon Chen’s passion was also singing as a soprano. She always appreciated good food and good company.

Soon Chen was a faithful Christian, dutiful daughter, beloved wife of 57 years, and dedicated mother to her two children. She passed away peacefully on 13 April 2019 with her daughter by her side, at the golden age of 82. Soon Chen will be lovingly remembered by her family, relatives, and close friends, whom she loved dearly.

Visitation will be held at the R.S. Kane Funeral Home, 6150 Yonge St. (at Goulding, south of Steeles) on Wednesday, April 24th, from 9 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 9:30 a.m.
