Cvetkovski LubaCVETKOVSKI, Luba – Born Nov. 6, 1926 and died May 11, 2019 6:30am; 92 years of age.

Mother Luba and Father Boris were alike in many ways and had similar goals and purpose in life. They had “Old Country” attitude and worked long hard hours, sacrificed and saved all they could in order to provide for their family. Mother was an assembly line worker assembling seat belts in an uncomfortable manufacturing plant and also a laborer pressing clothing in a busy laundry often in unbearably hot conditions in order to provide for her 2 sons George and Chris.

Luba was born in Selo Drmeni, Resen to parents Vangel & Vasilka Nikolovski. She had 2 older brothers Krume and Gone Nikolovski. Mother married young and lived with father in Selo Ezereni in unpleasant conditions.

Both were determined to seek a better life abroad. Finally, father and 6 other members from Ezereni decided to escape. In 1957, father & the others sailed across Prespansko Ezero in a small boat and escaped to Greece. They were caught at the border by the Coast Guard and put in Lavrion prison for 18 months.

In 1959 father came to Canada & finally settled in Toronto. In 1961, he sponsored Mother and his 2 sons to join him in Toronto and on June 16, 1961 the family was united. Both parents worked very hard & both saved zealously to purchase their home on Chilton Rd. in East York in 1963. Mother was very frugal. She covered the sofa’s with blankets to keep them looking new, she would put up new drapes on the weekends in case guests visited us and then would remove them during the weekdays. She shopped at “Honest Eds” extensively & would bring home many bags of items she had bought. I was so embarrassed by this that I would throw the bags away & hide the items so people wouldn’t know they came from “Honest Eds”. She had a dilapidated buggy and would walk miles to do shopping at the market because it was cheaper… we did not have a car. After she retired in 1977 she looked after her grandchildren Stephen & Robert.

Her eldest son George, married Zora his wife of 40 years and have 2 children Stephen and Robert. In turn the grandsons Stephen married Valaria and Robert married Jennifer. Over time Luba had 5 greatgrandchildren Marcus, Christian, Victoria, James and Vivienne.

Chris also married and raised 3 grandchildren Tyler, Zach and Melody. In time Melody married Roberto and the family grew to include 3 greatgrandchildren Marina, Maria & Julian.

Mother for the most part had a good life and a long life. Unfortunately nature dealt her a blow and she became physically disabled in the last 7 years of her life. She struggled physically but now can rest peacefully knowing her family is well.

Visitation will be held at Heritage Funeral Centre, Toronto on Monday, May 13th, 2019 from 5:00pm - 9:00pm. The service willtake placw at St. Clement of Ohrid Macedonian Orthodox Cathedral, 76 Overlea Blvd, Toronto on Tuesday, May 14th, 2019 at 10:00am. Interment at Scarborough. A reception will follow at the Church.
