ROMITA, Giovanni 'Johnny' - With deeply saddened hearts, the family of Giovanni Romita announces his peaceful passing at the age of 90 on July 16, 2019.
Giovanni was born on April 1, 1929, in Bari, Italy.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Anna and Vito, his wife, Giulia, and his sisters Anna, Graziella and Lina.
He is survived by his children: Anna Horne (Joseph), Maria Filomena Ashby (Bert), Pat, and Suzanne; granddaughters: Julie Romita, Melissa Chartrand, and Sandra Chartrand; and his sisters: Pasqua, Domenica, Dina, Isa, Rosa and Mariella, and many nieces and nephews here in Canada and Italy.
Giovanni will be remembered as a kind and generous man who loved his family, co-workers, food, adventure films, Italian soccer and the Montreal Canadiens. He was a cabinet-maker by trade since he was a teenager and continued to work until 80 years of age.
A private funeral for family and close friends will take place on Friday July 19, 2019.
