GOLDMAN, Richard Morton - Beloved husband, devoted father, dear friend, and criminal defence lawyer, died peacefully in his sleep, at home, surrounded by his loved ones, on Sunday November 1, 2020.
As a wonderful friend said: The Gods summoned him with a full moon and a blanket of snow... so very fitting.
He will be forever be missed by his wife, Kathy, his beloved daughters, Keri and Krista (Kay); sons, Alexis (Tremblay) and David (Weenen), son-in-law Mike Herzog; and his sweet grandchildren Tori, Makaio, Jacob, Emma, Alex and Kayla; nieces Sara Goldman, Cindy Gray, nephew Douglas Gray and brother-in-law Ken Gray and sister-in-law, Sharon-Ann Gray. Richard was pre-deceased by his big brother Gordie.
Richard was a dear and kind soul who lived in the moment. His humour, along with his wonderful gap-toothed smile were legendary, and he could instantly put a smile on anyone's face when he walked in a room, or courtroom.
Four years ago he was diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia and then shortly after, Parkikenson's. He accepted his diagnosis with grace and courage, and went about his life as best he could, never feeling sorry for himself. It was very hard for him to accept that he could not practice law. It was truly his life. He loved the courtroom, and all the theatre that was acted out in that room, as well as the sparring with his colleagues. on both sides of the fence. He will be so deeply missed.
