Barraud GertrudeBARRAUD, Gertrude Mildred - Gertrude Mildred Barraud was born February 22, 1919 and passed away peacefully on February 28, 2021 at the age of 102.

She leaves behind her only daughter Audrey, son in law Michael, grandson Mark Fernandez, his wife Cynthia and their children Mason and Mackenzie along with her second grandson, Darryl, wife Kimberlee and their children Angeli and Judah.

She lived a long and beautiful life, she was born and raised in India and immigrated to England for 2 years with her husband, Ernest, of 72 years. They immigrated to Canada to join their daughter and her husband, Michael. They came by ship and she remembered fondly the hugh ship that brought her and Ernest over and the icebergs the vessel had to dodge to get here. She survived two pandemics in her life.

Trudy was kind, loving and gentle to those who knew her, she did not know how to be mean or unkind. She was, in fact, a genuine Christian.

She loved to knit - from hats, gloves and baby clothes to Afghans. To those who knew her well this was her favourite pastime. We will always remember her sitting in her favourite chair, in her favourite place, under the grandfather clock that hung on the wall, knitting. She was also an amazing cook in her days. She was the heart of our home.

Farewell Mum, Nana and “Big” Nana you will be dearly missed.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a private family visitation, Funeral Mass and interment will be held.  All arrangements and livestream details for all three events are available on the website of the Paul O'Connor funeral home.
