Gaffney MyrnaGAFFNEY, Myrna Lorraine (nee BALL)    - March 15, 1930 – March 23, 2021

With heavy hearts we announce that Myrna Lorraine Gaffney died peacefully, on Tuesday evening, March 23, 2021, leaving this earth to meet her soul mate Jimmy and beloved brother Murray.

She was surrounded by family and love.

She was born to Cecelia Sloan and Francis "Chip" Ball on March 15, 1930, in Timmins, ON.

She was a gentle, loving wife and mother to Susan and Lynne, a devoted mother-in-law to Gordon (Bell) and Sean (Gilligan).

She adored her grandboys – Christopher, Matt, Scott, Mike and Geoff and she was blessed to have met her 2 great-grandbabies – Kat (5) and Blake (3).

Her nieces and nephews brought her joy, especially when they came to live with their "Auntie Myrna and Uncle Jim" in Toronto searching for or starting new careers, some of whom stayed longer than originally expected.

As a young women, she started her career as a nurse graduating from the Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal.

As she and the family moved cities with Jimmy's career, she continued to persue her own career path in the Health Care Industry.

She worked in public health (Ottawa), the Ontario College of Art, as the school nurse, where she was surrounded by creative young people she adored and at the Ontario College of Nurses and Physicians as an adjudicator.

Her varied experiences in public health led her to the Nursing Program at George Brown College where she retired in 1990 as Director of Geriatric Nursing.

She was a daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, friend, nurse, and a dedicated bridge-learner but her life revolved around family and golf. She was an accomplished golfer, Myrna enjoyed many rounds and shared many good times with beloved friends at The Summit Golf Club and at her "happy place" at Kelly Greens in Fort Myers.

She had the good fortune to celebrate her 91st birthday at Kelly Greens in Fort Myers, Florida. Myrna was a keen observer of the politics of the day, especially in the last couple of years.

To her final moments she remained that parent and grandparent, focusing her prayers and concerns on her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was a lot of fun, had beautiful eyes and will be missed In accordance with Myrna's wishes, there will be a mass.

Her ashes will be interred at the family plot in Barrie.
