Steele Mary AnnSTEELE, Mary Ann (nee Sims) - It is with great sadness that the family of Mary Ann Steele (nee Sims) announces her peaceful passing, at Bethell Hospice on Monday, May 3, 2021 in her 61st year, after a long struggle with breast cancer.

Beloved wife of Owen and loving mother to Geoffrey and Liam, and to their Black Lab, Scout.

Loving daughter of Keith and Joan Sims and daughter-in-law to John and Dorothy Steele. Mary Ann will be deeply missed by her siblings Michael (Teresa) Sims, Karen (Richard) Beilhartz and Patricia (Adam) Berko.

Lovingly remembered by her sisters-in-law Janet (Frank) Steele Walters and Gillian Busch (Marcel Kaschub). Mary Ann will be very fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews.

She was a devoted mother and wife, loving Owen and the boys “to the moon and back, to infinity and beyond." She was an enthusiastic and supportive cheerleader at the many sporting events that Geoffrey and Liam participated in and took great pride in their accomplishments.

Mary Ann was an avid traveller, having visited Africa, Asia and Europe on many trips with her family or her dear friend Kathryn Getliffe.

She was a dedicated and highly capable Speech-Language Pathologist, most recently for the Peel District School Board, who retired at the end of February 2021. Mary Ann particularly enjoyed working with special needs students, providing them with assistive technology to enable them to communicate.

She loved to garden and to create with her hands and was a baker and cook extraordinaire. Mary Ann always enjoyed attending theatre performances in the company of family and friends. By no means least, she took great satisfaction in organizing events, whether family dinners, visits or trips.

Respecting the current situation and pandemic restrictions, the Funeral Service and Interment will be private. A private service (livestreamed) will be held at St. James the Apostle Anglican Church, Brampton on Monday, May 10th, followed by a private family interment at Marymount Cemetery in Guelph.

Arrangements and Livestream details are available on the website of Ward funeral homes, Brampton chapel.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society or to Bethell Hospice.
