FLAXMAN, Laurel Agnes MacPhail (nee BANKS) - Died peacefully, on Sunday, June 20, 2021, at Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto.
Laurel is survived by her husband of 69 years, Richard Flaxman, their three children, Robin, Ted and Susan, six grandchildren, Jacob, Emily, Catherine, Gillian, Margaret and Stephany, three great-grandchildren, Sam, Elliot, and Daphne and her siblings Norma, Kay and Ray.
Laurel was born to Laurence and Frances Banks (nee Hurd) on August 28, 1930 in Saskatchewan; she was the tenth of eleven children.
In her early teens, Laurel relocated to Toronto where she attended Northern Vocational School then worked for the Imperial Bank of Canada.
Laurel met Richard and they settled down and had a family of their own.
Laurel was most often a stay-at-home Mom involving both herself and her children in various community activities.
She became interested and accomplished in both art and guitar.
She would join her sisters in the pursuit of both. Laurel and Richard are most recently residents at the Briton House in Toronto, Ontario.
While we expect many will want to join us in the celebration of her life, the family plans to host an event once the COVID-19 pandemic has been resolved.
Donations can be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson Research on her behalf at: www.michaeljfox.org.
