Burrell MargaretBURRELL, Margaret Ann (nee HUGHES)   -  Margaret Ann Burrell died on July 7, 2021 at Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto; she was "only 89."

The daughter of Almer and Leta Hughes of Minto Township, Wellington County, she was one of six children born during the Depression: Donna Bell, Garfield Hughes (deceased), Mildred Fair, Lorna Hutchison and Shirley Ziegler (deceased).

Beloved wife of Norman Douglas Burrell (deceased) for 51 years, she was also mother of Mark and Jennifer (deceased). Margaret was a registered nurse, graduating from Toronto Western Hospital's School of Nursing.

Before starting a family, she worked in a doctor's office in Toronto.

After her children were in school, she updated her nursing degree at Seneca College and worked for many years for North York Public Health, supporting seniors and administrating school immunization.

In the mid-sixties, Marg and Doug bought the "Big Old Building" on Haliburton Lake, and enjoyed decades of swimming, boating, entertaining and cooking, good laughs and many fine meals.

After retirement, they moved to the Green Brier retirement community near Alliston, where they met many new friends for golfing, dinner parties, church activities (St. John's United) and more.

And throughout it all, there was bridge - Margaret loved to play cards, and bridge was her favourite game.

Margaret was deeply loved by her family and many friends.

A memorial service will be held at the W. John Thomas Funeral Home in Alliston ON on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at 1 p.m. If you plan on attending, please be vaccinated.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Society of Canada (alzheimer.ca) or ALS Society of Canada (als.ca) would be appreciated.
