Granatstein Smith PeggyGRANATSTEIN SMITH, Peggy Margery   - (Peggy) Challis Shaw Granatstein Smith passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday, August 16, 2021 at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre at the age of 82.

Born October 31, 1938, to Ronald Robb Shaw and Madge Cumberland Shaw in Toronto, Ontario.

Peggy was one of three, with Molly German her older sister and John Shaw her younger brother (deceased October 2020).

Beloved mother of Debra Granatstein, Peggy was also an adoring grandmother to Wyatt Orman and Blaire Orman and mother-in-law to David Orman.

Wyatt and Blaire will miss their Granny very much but have so many great memories to cherish. Peggy was also a loving aunt to Ron German, Wendy German, Ron Shaw and Darren Shaw (deceased June 2019).

Family was the most important thing in Peggy's life and she had many close relationships with cousins like Buff and David Woronka, Harold and Nancy Matthews, Linda Hammell, their children and grandchildren, and many others.

An amazing mother and grandmother, Peggy had a special gift at really engaging people and making them feel loved.

Peggy believed in living life to the fullest and enjoyed trips with her friends and social groups like the Red Hats and her book club which brought her much happiness.

Everyone who met Peggy, immediately loved her, and felt her genuine caring personality. She will be dearly missed by all of us but will live on forever in our hearts.

A private graveside service will be held at Mount Pleasant Cemetery on Friday, August 20th.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Peggy's honour to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada (www.heartandstroke.ca) or a charity of your choice.
