SEGAL, Samuel Isaac - It is with profound regret that his family announces the passing of Samuel on August 30, 2021 after a brave battle with illness.

The beloved husband of Denise Segal, married 59 years this week. Sam was the devoted father of Rhona Wulfsohn (Bruce), Sheryl Segal (Darren Brown) and Verna Pillemer (Gary). Cherished brother of Minnie Menachemson and Helen Stein.

Sam was an inspiration and mentor to all those who knew him. He loved spending time with his grandchildren Robbie, Hannah, Ella (Naftali), Kira, Tani, David, Orli and Mia. To him family was everything. His legacy of kindness, humility, optimism enthusiasm and shared determination lives on through his children and grandchildren.

He was born in Doornfontein, South Africa to Henia Naifeld and Valvel (Wolfy) Segal who immigrated from Baranvitch, Russia and Woyen, Poland shortly before World War II. As an exemplary entrepreneur, he worked his way up to become a well-known ladies’ clothing manufacturer in South Africa. The company Segal’s fashions became a household name nationwide. He immigrated to Canada later in life.

The family would like to sincerely thank all those who helped care for him during his hours of need.

Private Family Funeral service and livestream details are entrusted with Steeles Memorial Chapel.

Memorial donations can be made to Israel Cancer Research Fund, Hazoloh, Parkinson’s Research Canada or The Chevra Kadisha in South Africa.

Shiva details: 7905 Bayview Avenue . Apt 114. Please park in the visitor parking underground. Call ext. 224 to enter the building.  All attending shiva house must adhere to COVID protocols and wear masks at all times. Please text or call 416- 262-3030 before visiting to ensure there are not too many visitors at the same time.

Prayers nightly 6:20pm outdoors. Monday to Thursday and Sunday. Visits after prayers till 8pm. Visits also permitted 2:15pm to 4:15pm daily till Sunday night.
