Lang StefanLANG, Stefan - Passed away on August 30,2021.

Our wonderful dad passed away at home, very peacefully, surrounded by sons, daughters, in-laws, and grandchildren. Since he adored having his family gathered around him, we feel certain that the only thing that could have enticed him away was the knowledge that Mom, his beloved Hanna, was waiting to welcome him in heaven.

Even though this was a truly beautiful and well-deserved end to his life on earth, his 11 children—Anne Marie (Phil), Monika (Christopher), Margaret (Rick), Frank (Susan), Steve (Julie), Joanne (Tom), Christine (Grant), Susanne (Paul), Mike (Kathy), Albert (Liliya), and Elisabeth (Michael)—24 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren, will mourn and miss him terribly.

A master mason, he immigrated to Canada from Germany in 1956 with his wife and four children. He worked incredibly hard, running his own successful contracting company, and he continued to lay bricks into his 80s.

Dad had a natural exuberance that made him dance with abandon, flirt easily, and hang on to that final “youuuuuu” once everyone else had stopped singing “Happy Birthday”.

Dad leaves behind a rich and lasting legacy: in carefully laid bricks and stones all over Ontario (and beyond), in the company he built and that his sons carry on, and in the happy memories of all who knew him. But I think Dad would say his most important legacy was his children, who he was always proud to say “get along so well”. What a precious gift he gave us! The gift of each other, and the love and consolation we find in being together at this painful time. We were endlessly blessed to be his kids.

We will receive family and friends on Friday September 3rd at the Lynett Funeral Home, Toronto. Due to COVID restrictions, a private funeral mass and interment will follow. When it is safe to do so, we look forward to hosting a grand and glorious party in his honour.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Society of Canada would be appreciated.
