BLANSHARD, John Barrie - We have lost a man who was full of life, adventurous, with a sense of humour and creative antics! John Barrie Blanshard, 90, of Mississauga, Ontario passed away on September 22 2021.
Born in Sussex, England on November 7 1930, he immigrated to Canada during WWII evacuation of England with his mother and brother. He excelled at school, graduating as a civil engineer, Class of 53, University of Toronto.
After graduating he married Gloria Preston, together they raised 5 children, Jamie, Blair, Joni, Barrie and Bryan.
As a man who believed in people beyond anything else, Barrie forged lifelong friends in his Fraternity Lambda Chi Alpha and kept close contact with the University.
With former alumni, he initiated and created a 3rd year scholarship for engineering students at U of T.
He started his career at Standard Industries, then Consolidated Sand and Gravel and then the position as Senior V.P. St. Mary's Group, where he mentored many to succeed.

He gave to family, friends a legacy of togetherness, encouragement and strength. His ability and exuberance to live life to the fullest will be embraced by us all.
