Chan HubertCHAN, Hubert Kar-Kui - We are sad to announce his passing on Wednesday October 14, 2021 surrounded by his dearest family.

Hubert is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years Patricia; son Jason, his wife Emily and their three children Joshua, Natalie and Ashley; son Gene, his wife Mandy and their daughter Serena.

Hubert was a steady, cheerful spirit with an unshakeable “can do” attitude and a dependable work ethic.

Born in 1951 as the eldest son with 5 siblings, he grew up in Hong Kong.

Hubert moved out of a communal boarding home and sublet an entire home with two others. Little did he know that the home was owned by the mother of his future wife. In 1972, Patricia moved from Hong Kong to Canada and met Hubert.

With his new degree, Hubert landed a job as a technician at Canadian Press (CP) where he worked for 34 years. Hubert traveled all over Ontario maintaining satellites used to transmit news.

Hubert was a fun dad who had a steadfast belief in his sons Jason and Gene. He was their biggest cheerleader, and even coached baseball for a number of years.

At the age of 58, Hubert officially retired. He took care of his aging mother and visited her everyday, demonstrating that consistent care and love for his family he excelled in.

Between Hubert and Patricia’s worldwide adventures, they would visit their sons on the US west coast in Seattle and California. When grandchildren arrived, they helped immensely.

Hubert was diagnosed with colon cancer in November 2020. Shortly after, he accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his savior.

Visitation and the service will be held at Chapel Ridge Funeral Home, Markham on Saturday, October 23rd, 2021.
