SALUDO, Saturnino 'Yoyoy" Galdo - (May 19, 1950 – October 21, 2021) -

Saturnino “Yoyoy” Galdo Saludo died peacefully on October 21, 2021, at Toronto General Hospital where he had been cared for two months prior to his passing.

Son of Ancieto M. Saludo, Sr. and Crispina G. Saludo as well as the Narcisa Montederamos Saludo Family. Brother to Ancieto, Maria Salvacion and Leopoldo Saludo. Father to Sean, Meredith (David) and Mae (Steve).Grandfather to Sophia and Savannah Butler, Matthew and Miles Menlove.

Yoyoy was born in the small fishing town of Ichon in the Philippines. It was known from early into his adolescent years, that he was a generous and kind man. With his resources he often brought food to people by the fishing waters. People who knew of his food contributions would frequently look and ask for him in hopes of receiving his generosity. He took great pride in being able to give food to those who were hungry.

In the 70s he migrated to Toronto, Canada and worked many years for Weston Bakeries and had retired from there at the age of 65. Even with his limited resources in Canada, he continued to provide food to individuals. Many a times he would feed his children’s childhood friends and made sure they were welcomed into the home. As his children grew older, he would again and again take them out to eat which they most adored and looked forward to.

He was best known for his outlandish fashion choices and if you were lucky enough, you got offered something by him where he was able to get several pieces of something at a haggled price. He absolutely loved to bargain shop. More than once, I can remember him coming back with random stuff to give out to everyone cause ‘he got a deal’.

One of his greatest accomplishments included him financially assisting and walking his two daughters down the aisle – Mae in St. Maarten in October of 2013 and Meredith in Las Vegas on May of 2014. How blessed Saturnino was to be able to witness his daughters get married was truly an achievement for him. He also treasured meeting his grandchildren for the first time at the hospital when they were born.

Yoyoy enjoyed life, being in the company of family and friends and of course providing food to many people. I know his presence will always be with us and thank you Dad for everything you have given to us. You will be missed, and we hope that we made you proud.,

Arrangements are entrusted with Jerrett funeral homes, Scarborough chapel.
