SKINNER, Wilma Eileen (nee Jaimieson) - (February 23, 1932 - October 29, 2021) -

With heavy hearts, great sadness and an overwhelming feeling of loss we announce that the matriarch of our family passed away with her son Richard by her side.

She was born in Ohsweken, Ontario. Daughter of the late Elmer and Elva Jaimieson.

Educated as a Nurse from the first graduating class of Native Women from McMaster University. Wilma went on to be a teacher for 35 years in North York. She was an active member of the FWATO serving as treasurer.

Wilma was a Professor and Vice-Principal of the Native Counselling Summer Studies Program at Laurentian University. Wilma was a founding member of the Native Canadian Centre of Toronto. She often volunteered to speak about Native Culture to schools and community groups.

Wilma passed her driver's license at the age of 55 and drove across North America to see California and back again that same summer. Wilma was an avid sports fan watching as much Hockey, Baseball, Lacrosse, Golf, Formula 1 Racing and Figure Skating as she could - often missing meals to do so.

She was known as Ms Skinner, mother, Granny and Grandma Wil. She especially loved
spending time with her family.

Wilma was preceded by her son John David (survived by Bonnie). Survived by her son Richard (Susan) along with her grandchildren Ricky (Theresa), Donna (Randy), Tom (Kat), Robert (Virginia), Kristi (Billy) her great-grandchildren Justin (Meghan), Alexander (Megan), Shania (Ty), Corissa (Christina), Mackenzie, Anna, Ashleen, Ewan, Carter, Isabella, Evelyn and her great-great grandchildren Kaylee, Briella, Baxton and Mya.

Arrangements are entrusted with Ward funeral homes.

In Lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Bethell Hospice Foundation or to NCCT.

Interment to follow at a later date.
