KLEMENT, Miro - March 7, 1934 – November 13, 2021
Miro Karel Klement was born in Prague, in the Czechoslovak Republic.
After the German Occupation, he and his parents left the country for France and then England, where they arrived in the summer of 1940.
When Miro and his mother returned to Czechoslovakia in 1945, they learned that only one member of his extended family had survived WWII; all of the others had been exterminated.
Miro, his mother and his stepfather left Czechoslovakia again after the Communist Putsch of 1948, arriving in Toronto in 1949.
After completing his education, Miro worked in the offices of various Toronto architects for fifteen years, and taught at George Brown College from 1973 to 1999.
Among a range of interests that included photography, he was an active member of the William Morris Society of Canada.
Miro was predeceased by his wife Olga Williams-Klement in 2005, and is survived by his ex-wife Susan Klement.
He leaves to mourn his loss, a group of longtime friends in Canada, England and Europe, as well as cousins in the United States and Venezuela.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to do so may make donations in Miro's memory to Parkinson disease research at Parkinson Canada.
