CAMPBELL, Violet Rose -
February 13, 1921 - December 21, 2023
With great sadness we announce that Violet Rose Campbell passed away peacefully on December 21st.
Survived by daughters, Carole and Diane; and her husband, Martin; sons, James, Thomas, Robert, and Peter; Granddaughter, Meaghan; and great-grandchildren Dylan and Violet.
Born in Surrey, England, Violet grew up during the great depression.
During WWII, Violet met and married a Canadian soldier of the 48th Highlanders regiment, Morley Gordon.
They had two beautiful girls before Morley died in action during Operation Huskey in Sicily, Italy.
Having survived the devastation war brought to London, Violet sailed to Canada under the War Brides Act.
In Toronto they settled in war time housing, within Trinity Bellwoods Park. Later, she married CAF pilot Isaac Campbell (deceased).
They had four boys and then separated. Alone, she admirably raised six offspring in the town of Barrie on a department store salary.
At age 64 she moved back to her beloved Toronto, to a home in Riverdale where she lived happily for over 30 more years.
At the age of 95 she moved to long term care at Belmont House, Toronto. The remarkable care she received at Belmont, and family support, blessed us with her presence for 7 plus wonderful years.
