HAMMOND, Wilfred  - Lt. Colonel Wilfred Hammond passed away on Saturday, December 16, 2023, at St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto, at the age of 95.

 

He was born in Medicine Hat, Alberta, where his parents served as Salvation Army Corp officers.

 

He spent his younger years in various parts of Western Canada.

 

In 1955, he responded to the call of God and entered the College for Officer Training and was commissioned as a Salvation Army Officer in 1956. Many of his years as an officer were spent serving as an administrator for various Grace Hospitals across Canada. Wilfred was a gracious man who loved to sing, golf and garden.

 

He appreciated the beauty found in nature, and loved to canoe and hike.

 

Wilf celebrated 64 years of marriage to Verna. He loved spending time with family, especially his eight grandchildren.

 

Wilfred was predeceased by his wife, Verna; and his son, Derek.

 

He is survived by his daughters, Tricia, Connie and Beverley. He will be greatly missed by those he left behind.
