HAMM, Janette  -   Born in Hillsburn, Nova Scotia on August 30, 1931, Janette (nee Longmire) passed peacefully in Toronto on January 6, 2024, after a short illness.

A loving and kind person to everyone, she remained a force in our family until the end.

She was the beloved wife of her sweetheart Duke (Gerald), and a devoted mother, grandmother, surrogate grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Janette will be greatly missed by her children; Susan (Ted) and Richard (Nancy); her sisters Loretta (Karl), Marcia Lee (Greg); her grandsons and partners, Stephen (Laura), Ted (Alex), Peter (Meredith), Patrick (Diana); and great-grandchildren, Vesta, Thomas, Emilia, Calla, Oliver, Felix, Anthea, Hugo, Bianca, and Rose; and many nieces and nephews.

She was interested in knowing what was going on in the world and in the lives of everyone she knew.

Growing up in a small fishing village on the Bay of Fundy, she learned the important role love and understanding played in helping people survive and thrive.

She generously shared all of this with her family and her many friends aged 2-100. She truly believed that love doesn't make the world go round but it's what makes the ride worthwhile.

As per her wishes there will not be a celebration of life as she said she didn't want to have a party she could not attend.

She will be buried in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Annapolis Royal beside her dear Duke.

We would like to thank the staff at the Dunfield, especially her caregiver Ali and the team at the Sunnybrook Palliative Care unit for making her comfortable with their kind and respectful treatment.

Should you wish to donate in her memory, please give to a cause of your choice.
