Makin RonaldMAKIN, W. E. Ronald  -  On February 6, 2024, W. E. Ronald Makin passed away peacefully, age 93.

Born on November 22, 1930 in Shawville, QC, to Rev. W.E. Ross and Anna Pearl Makin (Hodgins).

Lived in Orangeville and Trenton growing up and in 1952, met Dorothy Davidson, a nursing student at Oshawa General Hospital.

Married in 1955, Ron and "Dort" raised Peter (Susan), Edward "Ted" (predeceased), and Nancey (Luc Lambert).

Proud grandfather to Sarah (Ryan), Patrick, Kaitlynn (Tanner) and Jean-Luc; and great-grandfather to Abigail, Quinton and Jack.

Brother-in-law to Marilyn (Frank Legatto), Carol (Andrew Flett), and Charlotte (Greg Land, predeceased). Ron worked at Lantic Sugar in Toronto as sales and plant manager for 25 years, and enjoyed his time teaching Sales and Marketing at Sheridan College.

Ron was a lifelong member of the Masons, Coronati Lodge 520, Master in 1964 and a proud member of the United Empire Loyalists.

He attended St. Andrew's Thistledown Anglican Church and graduated from York University in 1976, HBA Economics.

Ron had many interests and hobbies and took pride in never having to call a repair person. He enjoyed time spent with family and friends.

After Dorothy's stroke in 1997, Ron lovingly cared for Dorothy until she became a resident at The Harold and Grace Baker Centre in 2018 and Ron joined her there in 2019.

Dad enjoyed breakfast meetings with his lifelong friends from Trenton, Jim Kirk and Mack Robinson; sharing childhood memories with his cousin, Rev. Gerald Morgan; and "big reds" and bbq's with the Cooke and Hawkins families.

There will be more coffee in the pot, and more sugar in the bowl now that Dad is gone, but Dad's lively conversation, positive attitude and generous spirit will never be replaced.

The family is grateful to the staff at the Harold and Grace Baker Centre for providing compassionate care.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
