BUCCI, Giovanni "John" -
March 2, 1937 - March 31, 2024
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Giovanni Bucci on March 31, 2024, at the age of 87.
He leaves behind his wife of 43 years, Grace Bucci.
His children Anna, Anthony (Shannon), Dianne (Les) and Claudia (Nick).
He was a proud Nonno to his grandchildren, Nicole, Christopher (Amanda), Brittany, Marcus (Sarah), Chiara and Matteo; and Bis Nonno to his great-grandson, Theodore.
Born in Sessano del Molise, Italy in 1937, Giovanni immigrated to Toronto, Canada, with his parents, Felice and Anna, in 1953.
His passion for sewing, which he learned at a very young age and determination enabled him to open his own business, JB Cleaners & Tailors at the age of 25. In 1977, he opened Giovanni of Italy Custom Tailoring, where he would eventually meet his future wife, Grace.
Together they relocated the business to Scollard Street and with their hard work and dedication it became the most successful Tailoring Shop in the Yorkville area.
Giovanni's passions in life were Tailoring, Carpentry, Cars, Music and Birds. His greatest passion though, was his family. He fought a long battle with heart disease and in the end his heart could not sustain his life anymore. Giovanni will be deeply missed but he has left us with many cherished memories.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 7, 2024, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and Monday, April 8, 2024, from 11:00-11:45 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Funeral Home 211 Langstaff Road East. Funeral Mass will take place in the Chapel within the Funeral Home on Monday, April 8, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. Entombment to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
