DAVIDCHUK, Jack Matthew - After a full life, Jack Matthew Davidchuk, 85, of Ashburn Ontario, passed away on July 22nd, 2017.
Jack leaves behind his loving wife of 48 years, Rita Joan Davidchuk (Keezer); his son, Matthew Davidchuk, daughter-in-law, GuiZong, and grandson, Julian Davidchuk, of Seattle, Washington; his daughter, Chantal Davidchuk, son-in-law, Andrew Goodin, grandson, James Goodin, and granddaughter, Amy Goodin of Westminster, Colorado; and his son, Stephen Davidchuk, and daughter-in-law Aesuk Moon of Pickering, Ontario.
He is survived by his sisters Ann Waschuk of Winnipeg, Mary James of Montreal, Nell Taylor of Winnipeg, Lucy Clary of Portage-la-Prairie, Ruth Davidchuk of Mount Albert, and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother Michael Davidchuk of Calgary, Sandra Dawson of Ebenezer, and Leah Preston of Cornwall.
Jack was born in Novosuilki, Ukraine on March 16, 1932, to parents Matthew Davidchuk and Antonina Davidchuk (Olchowetz), immigrated to Canada in 1938 and settled near Swan River, Manitoba.
He earned a double major in History and Modern Languages from the University of Manitoba. After four years of studying and teaching in France, Jack returned to Canada andtaught French in Winnipeg andNorthern Ontario. He spent the rest of his teaching career in Durham Region.
After retirement, he continued his lifelong love of learning and earned multiple degrees at Glendon College.
Jack had a deep love of the natural world. He was an organic gardener who spent many happy years in his large vegetable garden and enjoyed sharing the abundance of his labours with family and friends. He trod lightly upon this earth.
To celebrate the life and mourn his passing, a public visitation will take place on Friday July 28th from 12pm to 1pm with a funeral service to start at 1pm in the chapel at BARNES MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME.
