Raised on Montana homestead as cowpoke.
Studied geography at Utah State and Montana State. Dryland rancher. Three children were the best harvest.
PhD Columbia University (NYC). Economic Geographer, Memorial University. Students called him "Uncle Bill". He too transitioned from rural school.
Retired 1996, he painted Montana childhood story memories. In 2016 his solo exhibit at "The Rooms": https://ca.news.yahoo.com/glimpses-eden-85-old-st-213100675.html Active in MUN faculty union, a Humanist working for gender equality.
