Powell BarbaraPOWELL, Barbara Jean –  Passed away peacefully at Markham Stouffville Hospital on January 7, 2018 at the age of 71. 

Daughter of the late Evelyn and James Powell.

Devoted sister of Peggy (Murray), Dan (Karen) and Scott (Diane). 

Loving aunt of Shannon (Don), Amy (Brad), Adam (Lyndsay), Jason (Daria), James and Greg. 

Great-aunt of Cameron, Max, Riley, Parker and Danielle. She will be dearly missed by her surviving aunts and uncles, Shirley, Ron, Barbara, Pat (Ken), and Gail, and fondly remembered by her many cousins.

As part of a strong, dedicated group of families, Barbara’s parents worked tirelessly for years to fundraise, plan, build and establish Participation House as a future home for their children and it has been Barb’s home for the past 45 years. 

A special thanks to the staff at Participation House for their dedication and friendships and to the emergency staff at the Markham Stouffville Hospital for the respect and kindness provided to Barb.

Barbara Jean served as an inspiration to family and friends and will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all.  Donations in Barb’s memory may be made to Participation House.

Memorial service to be held at 2:00 on February 3rd at the Dixon-Garland Funeral Home, Markham, ON.
