DE SANTIS, Giannino  - It is with great sadness that we announce that our much beloved Giannino De Santis passed away peacefully at Humber River Hospital on January 15, 2018.

He was a devoted husband to Maria (née Paletta) for 67 years and a loving and much loved father to Miguel (Martha), Gianni (Darlene) and Robert (Catherine).

Most particularly he was a very special Nonno to his grandchildren Michael, Andrew and Nicholas.

Born in Introdacqua, L'Aquila, Italy, 95 years ago, Giannino's life was filled with adventure.

He immigrated to Buenos Aires after WWII and later came to Toronto where he enjoyed a full and happy life with his family and friends.

Giannino was passionate about political and public service and was one of the original instructors for COSTI, a retraining and certification organization for Italian immigrants.

Giannino's sincerity and generous character allowed him to establish rapport at all levels of government - if you wanted any civic work done in the neighbourhood, he was the go-to guy.

His glorious garden was something that he shared with family and friends. He was the light of our lives and an example to us all. Giannino will be greatly missed by his many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Friends will be received at the Ward Funeral Home, 2035 Weston Road, on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Bernard de Clairvaux Catholic Church, 1789 Lawrence Avenue West, Toronto, on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 10 a.m. Entombment to follow.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to Humber River Hospital Foundation would be appreciated.
