KERR, Glenn (Donald) - January 2, 1945 - January 8, 2018
It is with great sadness that the family of Glenn (Donald) Kerr announce his sudden passing on January 8, 2018 at the age of 73.
Glenn is predeceased by his father Walter Errol Kerr and his mother, Murielle Gertrude Kerr (nee Vermette).
He is survived by his siblings Maralynne, Wayne, Ronald, Gene (Jenette), Karen and Shelley (Dave), nephews Patrick, Jason and Kyle, and nieces Kelly and Casey, and his beloved cat Tasha.
Glenn had a wonderful sense of humour, which he shared with family, friends and strangers alike.
His kind and caring nature and generous heart were appreciated by all those who knew him and were the recipients of those qualities.
He was always willing to help those less fortunate or with personal struggles and he quietly did so on numerous occasions. To meet Glenn was to like him. Glenn was gifted with many talents and abilities, the foremost being artistic, musical (drums and guitar), and design. His inquisitive and searching mind, always seeking the deeper meaning, led him on various and interesting paths throughout his life.
He lived his life independently and was true to himself, with his journey taking him to British Columbia and back. Glenn was an original ‘hippie,’ living in Yorkville during that era and experiencing all that went with those changing times.
He held various positions throughout his life, including the construction of some of the first salt domes in the City of Toronto, and landscaping, among many others. He loved all animals, particularly cats and his favourite animal, the African elephant.
He is deeply loved by his family and the void he leaves is great but he will remain in our hearts forever.
Remembering his humour and easy laugh and the joy it brought to us will buoy us all during our sad times. Glenn will be greatly missed by his family and friends alike.
Given the health issues Glenn endured over the last years, the family would like to thank Dr. Glenn Ibsen of Whitby Medical Clinic, whose compassion and genuine care kept Glenn going well beyond expectations.
In keeping with Glenn’s wishes, there was no funeral service and a cremation has taken place.
