Murray JeanMURRAY, Jean Dorothy (nee MacKENZIE)  - Died peacefully on February 4, 2018 at the age of 87, with family at her side.

Family and friends surrounded Jean over her final weeks, which was a great gift and a comfort to all.

She is survived by Don, her husband of 63 years and her children: Alison (Rod), Ian (Linda), Angus (Sarah) and Laura; her seven grandchildren: Adam, Graham, Megan, Garth, Jake, Tess and Hugh; brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Alex and Laura Murray; cousin Zoya Faddy (Winchester, UK) and half-sisters Nancy and Heather.

She was predeceased by her mother Dorothy Halliday, her brother Derek MacKenzie, her step-father Nelson Halliday and her father James MacKenzie.

Jean was born in London, England and spent her childhood in Toronto, Sand Lake and Orangeville. She graduated from McMaster University (BA) and University of Toronto (BSW) and worked for the Toronto Children's Aid Society.

Her adult years were spent in Montreal, Burlington, Gravenhurst and Toronto (Beaches) where she developed many lifelong friendships. She enjoyed summers in Muskoka and the last 30 years on Echo Lake (Baysville), which became a hub for the family.

Jean was a longtime and active member of Beach United Church.

Time with her cherished friends and beloved family brought her great joy and happiness throughout her life. Thank you to the staff at the Michael Garron Hospital, Palliative Care Floor, for their kindness and compassion during her final weeks.

Memorial donations can be made to a charity of your choice.

There will be a visitation on Friday, February 9th from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. and a Celebration of Life on Saturday, February 10th at 2:00 p.m.  Both events will be held at Beach United Church, 40 Wineva Avenue, Toronto. Her ashes will be buried in Baysville at a later date.
