Mercer JacquelineMERCER, Jacqueline Eleanor  - Died surrounded by love in St. Joseph's Health Centre on Tuesday, February 6, 2018.

Jacqueline gave generously of her time to both her church, the former St. John's Anglican Weston where she was a member and to the public school system where she was an active school volunteer for many years, both in Toronto and Hamilton.

Jacqueline was born on St. Clair Avenue in Toronto on Monday, April 12, 1943.

She was the fifth child of Clifford Leishman Mercer and Vera Irene (Fidler). She was blessed to have grown up in a large (loud) happy family that grew to number eight children.

She lived most of her life in Toronto's west end Junction neighborhood, with a few years spent living in Hamilton and Georgetown before returning permanently to Toronto. She attended school at St. Clair Avenue Public, George Harvey and General Mercer. Jacqueline is survived by son Stephen (Allan Mills), three older siblings Jack, Beverly (Dave) Crackle and Ron, three younger siblings Cliff (Nancie), Noreen (John) French and Dan and nephew ("little brother") John (Cheryl) Layton. She was predeceased by her parents, her older sister and best friend Shirley Layton, brother-in-law Jack Layton and sisters-in-law Shirley, Jean and Verna. She will be lovingly remembered by her extended family and friends.

Memorial Visitation will take place at 1:00 p.m. followed by the Memorial Service at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, February 12, 2018 at Lynett Funeral Home, 3299 Dundas Street West, Toronto.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice.
