Machmer ArthurMACHMER, Arthur Jacob  - August 15, 1927 – March 5, 2018

Passed away peacefully on March 5, 2018 at True Davidson Acres at the age of 90 after a long battle with dementia.

Born in Regina, raised in Vancouver, he moved to Toronto in his early 20s and began a 27-year career with the Toronto Police Department.

He was a Detective Sergeant at 41 Division in Scarborough and retired years later from the Intelligence Bureau.

He came out of retirement to work for the Ontario Jockey Club as an investigator for 13 years. He is survived by his loving wife Jean of 43 years and his children Susan and Wayne.

Cherished by his step-children Sharon, Tom, Ruth and Laura. Remembered lovingly by his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Predeceased by brothers Eric and Harry. A devoted Yankee fan and an avid tennis player, he loved his summers at his Stoney Lake cottage and winters in Florida.

A life well lived and loved by all.

Thank you to True Davidson Acres for caring for our beloved grandpa.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Hospital for Sick Children.

The funeral will be held at Jerrett's Funeral Home (660 Kennedy Road, Scarborough) on Sunday, March 11th. Visitation from 12:00-1:00 p.m., service at 1:00 p.m. Reception to follow.
