Taylor ShirleyTAYLOR, Shirley Irene (nee RUSTON)  - It is with tremendous sadness that the family of Shirley Irene Taylor announces her sudden passing from a brief respiratory illness on Monday, March 12, 2018 in her 81st year at the Mayo Clinic Hospital in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Shirley left us peacefully with courage and dignity, surrounded by her loving family.

Shirley was the daughter of the late Ellis and Beatrice Ruston and was born in Wadena, Saskatchewan. She felt privileged to have spent her early years growing up on a farm in the heart of the wheat fields of the Canadian prairies.

Predeceased by her siblings, Jack, Eileen and Doreen and her nephew Greg, she will be dearly missed by her eldest brother Vernon of Colonsay, Saskatchewan as well as many loving nieces and nephews. Shirley was the only love of Allan Taylor's life, her devoted husband of 60 years.

Allan will always be indebted to Shirley for her unwavering and dedicated support of his career as well as the raising of their family. She will be terribly missed and forever celebrated by her two children, Rod (Martha) and Leslie (Jamie) who will never forget the many sacrifices their mother made on their behalf.

Allan and Shirley shared a remarkable life together. They were a team and through hard work achieved great success and created a wonderful life. Their travels took them all over the world and exposed her to an incredible number of diverse and fascinating people, all of whom she treated with the same dignity and respect.

Shirley had a twinkle in her eye and could always warm a room with her beautiful smile. Despite these successes, Shirley always felt that her greatest achievement was her family.

There was nothing in the world more important to her than those she loved. In particular, she was immensely proud of her grandchildren, Alanna, Kelsey and Hayley. Her involvement in their lives is something they will always cherish.

True happiness for Shirley was having dinner at her beloved cottage on Stoney Lake, surrounded by her family or playing the piano for family and friends. Shirley's grace, heart and sense of humour will be dearly missed by all the friends she made at the lake, in Toronto and Scottsdale, Arizona.

A celebration of Shirley's life will be held at the Granite Club (2350, Bayview Avenue, Toronto, Ontario) Friday, May 25th at 12:00 p.m. followed by a reception.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Liver Foundation (www.liver.ca) or the charity of your choice.
