Shearer NormanSHEARER, Norman  - Passed away on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at the age of 84, in the palliative care ward at Michael Garron Hospital in Toronto.

He was born March 16, 1934 in Edinburgh, Scotland.

Norman joined the British Army and deployed to British Guiana in 1954, where he met and married Yvonne (nee Mayers).

Norman was a gifted piper, who played with the Argyll and Sutherland Regiment pipe band.

After immigrating to Canada, Norman continued his piping as a Pipe Sergeant with the Highland Creek Pipe Band before starting the Clan Sutherland Pipe Band as Pipe Major in Markham, Ontario.

Norman is survived by his devoted wife of 63 years, Yvonne, his son Garry (Colleen), his grandchildren Michael (Christina Boliszczuk) and Marlies Elke (Rob) and brother David Shearer.

He will be missed by his loving brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews and nieces.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 24th from 10 - 11 a.m. at the McDougall & Brown Funeral Home, 2900 Kingston Rd. A Service will be held in the chapel at 11 a.m. Burial to follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks a donation in his name be made to the Rotary Foundation of Canada.
