Skain FrankSKAIN, Frank Joseph  - It is with great sadness that we announce Dr. Frank Joseph Skain, MD, FRCP, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, March 18, 2018.

Frank was the loving husband of Marilyn Sutherland Skain; brother of Mary Skain (deceased); and son of Joseph and Theresa Skain (deceased).

Frank is survived by his eight children, John (Leslie), Cathy (Doug), Peter (Laura), Sandra (D'Arcy), Paul, Tim, Andrew and Elizabeth (Eric); and his eight grandchildren, Caitlin, Madelaine, Avery, Rory, Nate, Sawyer, Finn and Jake.

Frank will also be missed by his many step-children and step-grandchildren in Solon, Ohio and throughout the US. Born in Toronto on February 22, 1929, Frank was raised in North Toronto and attended St. Michael's College School and the University of Toronto.

He graduated from the University of Toronto's Faculty of Medicine in 1954. Frank then trained at St. Michael's Hospital and received his specialist certificate in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 1960. Frank was a well-respected Obstetrician/Gynaecologist in Toronto.

He began his medical career at Northwestern General Hospital in 1961, also practicing at Branson Hospital and later at Humber River Regional Hospital. Throughout his long career he worked passionately to ensure the healthy birth of many of Toronto's children. 

Frank was a faithful member of the Catholic community in Toronto and Muskoka. He was a parishioner of Holy Rosary Church, Our Lady of the Assumption, and St. John the Baptist in Muskoka.

The family will receive friends at the Humphrey Funeral Home, 1403 Bayview Avenue, from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 25th.  Funeral service to be held Monday, March 26th at 10:30 a.m. in HOLY ROSARY CHURCH, 354 St. Clair Avenue West.
