Hoops MargaretHOOPS, Margaret  - After living with ovarian cancer for three years and with the complications and frustration of a recent stroke, Marg died peacefully and in the comfort of her home on Tuesday, May 15, 2018, surrounded with the love of her family.

Wife, mother, friend and mentor, Marg was truly the wind beneath our wings.

Born in 1940 in Amsterdam, Holland, she and her two sisters came with their parents, Peter and Lorna Terburg, to Canada in 1954, settling in Kingston.

After graduating from high school, Marg trained as an X-Ray Technician at Kingston General Hospital. Her career took her to Cobourg, Ontario, a private hospital in Amsterdam, Holland, hospitals in London, England and Cambridge, Ontario and finally, for many years, to private clinics in Kitchener.

Marg met her future husband, Bob, in Cobourg where he worked as a reporter for the local newspaper.

They subsequently headed to Europe separately, she to Amsterdam and he to Celle, Germany.

Later, they both went to London, England where they were married in 1963 before returning to Canada.

They settled in Galt, now Cambridge, Ontario and then for more than 35 years in Waterloo.

On Bob's retirement in 2003, they moved to midtown Toronto and from there, not only spent hours exploring the city, but also travelled to Cuba, Portugal, Hawaii, Europe and also took several cruises.

During retirement, they camped in a tent all over North America, crossed Canada several times and spent many winters in condo comfort in Panama City Beach, Florida.

Survivors include her husband Bob of Toronto; daughter Renee and husband Ian Gatrell of North Vancouver, BC; daughter Janet and husband Steve McOrmond of Toronto; and two sisters. In keeping with Marg's wishes, there will be no funeral.

To honour Marg's free spirit, her ashes will be scattered on the wind.
