HLADUN, Virginia Anne Pauline (Parker) - Obituary | Print |

HLADUN, Virginia Anne Pauline (nee Parker) -

It is with deep sadness that we share the news that our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister- in-law, Streyna and aunt has left us all too soon.

On April 5, 2014 Virginia Anne Pauline Hladun (nee Parker) fell and slipped into a coma, from which she never recovered.

Virginia was an intelligent, vibrant and compassionate soul who did her best to care for all those she loved and who loved her. There are no words to express the loss to her husband of 53 years Kenneth Wayne Thomas Hladun and her two daughters Marusia Irene Hladun (Roman Komorowsky) and Anna Rosalie Hladun Lloyd (John Lloyd). Dearest Baba will be profoundly missed by her adoring grandchildren Ivanna Rosalia Iwasykiw, Roxolana Olena Anna Iwasykiw, Christina Sophia Iwasykiw, Lev Stephan Iwasykiw, Kalyna Rose Lloyd and Luca Myr Malaiko Komorowsky.

The family is supremely grateful to the staff at the Trauma Center at Penn, whose superb and progressive, empathic care helped us navigate very difficult waters.

For those who knew Virginia well, they know that she lived an interesting life, moving from London, ON, to Toronto, ON and then ending up in the Philadelphia area for the greater portion of her life. Virg (Virgie) was always a staunch Canadian regardless of where she found herself, although she loved living in the USA and, moreover, was an active member in the Ukrainian community, as well as her local parish St. Margaret of Antioch in Narberth, PA.

Virginia, Mama, Baba, Streyna and aunt will live on in our hearts and souls as a shining example of how love and laughter can keep family united and strong.

Virginia would have wanted a joyous celebration of her life, which will start with visitation at 9:30 a.m. and then a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at St. Margaret of Antioch Church in Narberth (, followed immediately by a reception at the Antioch Annex directly under the church. All are welcome to attend and celebrate.

A memorial service, followed by a reception, will be held on May 17, 2014 (the 40th day after Virginia's passing), at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, 4 Bellwoods Ave., in Toronto, Canada.

Virginia's ashes will be placed with her grandparents.

In lieu of flowers, family is asking that a donation be made in Virginia's name to the ASPCA or the Humane Society.

McKEAGE, Dawn Victoria (Vicki) McKeage - Obituary | Print |

McKEAGE, Dawn Victoria (Vicki) -

Dawn was a beautiful person, wife, sister, mother, grandmother, auntie, confidant and friend to us all. She will be sadly missed and forever remembered.

Unfortunately Vicki lost her battle with Cancer on April 5, 2014.

She passed away peacefully at home with her husband, Kevin Mckeage faithfully at her side along with her brother Chris Dutfield and her close friends Joanne Peace and Patricia Henderson who stayed with her in her final moments. She was surrounded by loved ones and the thoughts and prayers of many who have visited, called, Facebooked, and emailed. She appreciated each and every message and thought that were sent her way.

Vicki is predeceased by her mother Madelaine Dawn Myles and survived by her brothers Chris and Kevin Dutfield, and daughter Dawna Martinez-Pacini.

She will be sadly missed by many including: Her granddaughters Angelina, Eva, and Stella Martinez-Pacini who adored their grandmother and loved nothing more than to spend time with her crafting and adventuring; her daughter and son in law Dawna and Alfredo Martinez-Pacini; Her loving father in-law Tom Mckeage, sister in-law Brenda Prier, and beloved niece and nephew Shawn and Crystal Prier; sister in law Debbie Hutchinson and her husband Don and their children Stephanie, Bailey and Grant, her beautiful Katie, her lifelong friend Natalie Catalano who spent so many days with Vicki keeping her spirit up, her amazing neighbour and friend Miss Betty, her aunts and uncles and cousins who she loved dearly, and of course her fluffy kitty Girly who is a little lost without her and will keep Kevin company now.

There are very clearly so many people who loved Vicki, too many to name.

Mom loved laughter, colour and nature, and in particular butterflies. Her soul has finally broken free from its cocoon, and she is finally free like the butterflies she so admired. I have faith that she will be guided by the cheerful and loving faces of her mother, grandparents and her dear friends who passed far too young before her. And as she did here on earth she will surely bring life to the party wherever she may go.

Mom, we love you, we miss you, and you will forever be a part of us; If I could save time in a bottle, I’d save every day till eternity passes away just to spend them with you too Mom. Love you.

A Celebration of Vicki’s life will be held at the McKeage residence (49 Main St. Beaverton) on Saturday April 12, 2014 from 1P.M- 4P.M.

If so desired memorial donations to the Durham Region Transportation Services for cancer drivers can be made at the family home on Saturday.
