HUNT, Marion Elsie (nee JACK) -
It is with sadness that we tell you of the death of Marion Elsie Hunt. She passed peacefully surrounded by those that she loved and loved her on November 11, 2012 in Etobicoke.
She will be joining the love of her life and soul-mate Keith Hunt, who she has missed profoundly since predeceasing her in 2008. Mom will be forever remembered and loved by her daughters Lynn (Beach), Dawn and Victoria, sons-in-law Larry and Robert, and grandchildren Matthew, Christopher, Alisha and Hayley.
Marion was born in Haileybury Ontario on August 29, 1927 and spent many years in Kirkland Lake where she met her lifelong best friend Betty Ann Elliott. BA will miss Mom deeply. Marion was a domestic engineer extraordinaire. She was on the leading edge of food nutrition and the importance of vitamins long before it was in vogue.
She always prepared a loving environment in any city we resided, which were many. She would proudly tell people that she moved more than 20 times as Keith worked for CN for 44 years.
The family appreciates the care and kindness she received from Althea at Kingsway Retirement Residence, whom made mom's life better and provided such comfort to our family.
A family internment will occur at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, donations may be made to the Alzheimers Society at www.alzheimer.ca in Marion's name.

RICARD, Kara Anita -
(September 23, 1977 - November 11, 2012)
The world is a lesser place and heaven has a stronger spirt.
Kara died early Sunday, November 11, 2012 at age 35.
She had fought flu and then pneumonia for several days.
Kara was a wonderful wife, momma, mother, daughter, sister, auntie, niece, cousin, grand, in-law. She embraced everyone from every definition of family, and was a great friend to so many.
She is missed deeply, and forever and always. Kara was married in summer 2009 to the love of her life, Kelly, nee Wilk (and yes, "we had a great wedding!") She was the proudest momma to Ben since his birth in March 2011, mother to Adri Disman, devoted daughter of Mary Murphy and Rick Ricard, the best sister possible to Rick, Ryan, Quinn and Jenn, happy auntie to Ava and Ella, to any child who would let her, really. Kara's big smile and bright eyes were always a joy to see, her love for life unmeasured.
It was always great to see her lift Ben or any child so easily, to be held so closely, never wanting to let go. To hear her laugh was to hear the sound of joy. Kara fought to the end because she knew life was precious, and she had so much to live for. She was posting her hospital stay to Facebook on Saturday, sure it was just another weird thing in life.
She always gave herself to everyone. (In passing she gave so others might live better; she would urge you to register to do the same.)
Kara was a dedicated public servant, working for the city for many years at the island water plant (she would tell you it's great drinking water -- have some in her honour.)
The life of someone like Kara deserves to be cried over and laughed over, reflected on, remembered forever.
Some of that will happen Friday, November 16th, gathering from 5-9 p.m. with service at 7 p.m., at TRULL FUNERAL HOME, 1111 Danforth Ave. at Greenwood.
(Cremation has taken place.)

BASRUR, Professor Dr. Parvathi 'Pari' -
Passed away, on November 10, 2012 at 11:40 a.m. at Guelph General Hospital, Ontario, with her husband of 56 years at her side.
Dr. Basrur is survived by her husband Dr. Vasanth Basrur and daughter Jyothi Basrur and predeceased by her daughter, Dr Sheela Basrur (2008). She will be sadly missed by her grand-daughters Simone Koves and Simone's father Peter Koves, Natasha and Nina Esmail and their father Amin Esmail.
To mourn her, she leaves behind her brother Ram and his wife Kamla Nambiar, brother Ravi, sisters Nalini, Sashi, brother and sister-in-laws and nieces and nephews, long time friends Ed and Susie Reyes, Allan and Lena King and many other close family friends.
Dr. Basrur was born September 15, 1929 in Kerala state, India. After the completion of a M.Sc. in Bangalore, India, she came to Canada in 1955 to pursue doctoral studies at the University of Toronto. In 1959, she joined University of Guelph as the first female faculty member in the Ontario Veterinary College.
In her 60 year career, she investigated and shared her fascination with the magic of chromosomes focussing on animal health, reproduction and response to environmental exposure to toxins, carcinogens and clastogens. Her work has been disseminated in over 200 scientific articles and several books. She has contributed to the training of over 5,000 veterinarians and supervised 20 M.Sc. students, 26 Ph.D. students, and 11 Post Doctoral Fellows and mentored countless others.
Dr. Basrur’s laboratory was always a vibrant research environment and a meeting place for students and scientists from Canada and all corners of the world. The Basrur home was the "home away from home" for many and she was fondly referred not only as Dr B. but also as Mama Basrur. The food, the scientific discussions, the stories, the self effacing but distinct humour will be sorely missed.
Her many accomplishments were rightfully acknowledged by personal tributes and awards, all of which were of equal importance to Dr Basrur. She was particularly proud of the Order of Canada, YMCA-YWCA Woman of Distinction award for Life Achievement, the Norden Award for Distinguished Teaching and most recently the Queen’s Jubilee Award.
Dr. Basrur was a role model, friend, inspiration, confidante, a visionary and a promoter, all rolled into one. She literally inspired generations of people and her legacy will carry on. She leaves a void in the lives of many friends, colleagues, and former students.
Dr. Basrur retained her dignity, sense of humour and consideration for others during her year-long convalescence following cardiac surgery.
The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate care given to her at Trillium Health Centre, Mississauga, Grand River Hospital and St Mary's Hospital, Kitchener and Guelph General Hospital.
The family is holding a private ceremony in the days to follow. A public celebration of Dr Basrur's life will be arranged in ensuing weeks.
Dr. Basrur had requested the donations be sent, in lieu of flowers, to the Grand River Hospital Foundation, 835 King St. W., Kitchener, ON N2G 1G3 or a charity of their choice.
