VEUGELERS, Bruce Arthur -

Passed away suddenly on December 9, 2013 in Lafontaine, Ontario.

Born in 1960 in Toronto, he was the cherished son of John (1928-2013) and Gisèle Marie (née Couturier).

Bruce was an active, courageous man whose wit, musicianship, gregariousness and love of the outdoors will be missed and remembered lovingly by his brothers and sisters (Jack, Suzie, Caroline, Paul), their respective spouses/partners (Anissa, Michel, Dave, Ginette), his nieces and nephews (Bruce, Daniel, Rachelle, Jérémie, Jacqueline, Émilie, Katerine) and his close friends (Bob and Donna Dropking, Dave and Muriel Patenaude, Ralph and Lynne Robitaille).

A funeral ceremony will be held at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church, 1300 Leslie St., near Lawrence Ave. East, at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 19, 2013.

VORKAPIC, Nenad 'Ned' -

(February 17, 1941 – December 9, 2013)

Ned passed away peacefully, with family at his side, at the Trillium Health Centre, Mississauga on Monday December 9, 2013 at the age of 72.  He was diagnosed only 3 weeks earlier with pancreatic cancer while enjoying another year as a snowbird in Florida.

He will be greatly missed by those he loved, especially his wife of 10 years, Maud Casimir. His niece, Nina Riese, of Brampton and nephew, Nenad Vorkapic, of the former Yugoslavia will also miss him dearly. Ned's step-children, Marc (Amy) Casimir, Michelle (Peter) Moo and Monique (Patrick) D'Sa will always remember the fun loving man that brought ice cream treats to his grandchildren Ethan, Emma, Justin, Karolina, Evan, Kate, Scott and Adam.

He will also be missed by his many friends in Mount Hope as well as in Fort Myers, Florida. Ned was a man you could count on for a good game of cards, darts or billiards. He could always be found in front of the big screen cheering on his favourite team, the Toronto Maple Leafs. Ned was a wonderful person with a gentle soul who appreciated the company of family and good friends.

Born in the former Yugoslavia, Ned came to Canada at the age of 27. He worked for 25 years as an electrician for General Motors in St Catharines. He is predeceased by his son, Nikola.

We would like to thank the team of doctors and nurses who cared for Ned during his short stay at both the Health Park Medical Center in Fort Myers and at the Trillium Health Centre in Mississauga. Special thanks to Dr. Garzon.

Funeral Service will be held in Hamilton on Sunday, December 15th. In keeping with Ned's wishes, cremation has already taken place.

For those who wish, memorial donations made to the Hockey Canada Foundation; Accessibility Fund and the Trillium Health Centre would be appreciated.

Service on Wednesday, December 11th.  Shiva: 177 Robert Hicks Dr., Toronto.  Shiva visits following the interment and on Thursday from 1:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., evening service on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.

Henry Wesley in his 80th.

year loving husband and soul mate of Sylvie (Farion) Wesley for 56 years.

The best dad to his two daughters, Virginia Wesley and Elizabeth Wesley-Shulist and father-in-law to Barry Shulist. Predeceased by a son Mark. Henry lived his dream of making a life for his family on the farm.

Funeral service will be held in Dundalk on Thursday, December 12th.

WILKIN, John Graham (Jack) -

Passed away in his residence at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre - Veteran's Wing, Toronto on Monday, December 9, 2013 at the age of 94.

Husband of the late Lorraine. Father of Bruce, Dave and Rick.

Father-in-law of Debra, Linda and Barbara. Grandfather of eight. Brother of Helen Cannon and Laura MacDonald. Jack was born in Paris, Ontario to Tom and Mary Wilkin.

He graduated from Paris High School and then the University of Toronto as a Mechanical Engineer. He served for five years in the RCOC and the RCEME during World War II, rising to the rank of Captain.

He was awarded the Military Cross and was mentioned in a Dispatch for distinguished service.

The whole of Jack's business career was with Ontario Hydro, first in construction work and later in personnel work, mostly at the management level.

Throughout most of his adult life, Jack was actively involved and took a leading role in social business, boating, swimming and military organizations.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 21st.

Peacefully at Hillsdale Estates on Monday, December 9th, 2013 at 85 years of age.

Beloved husband of Joy (nee Sykes) for 61 years.

Loving father of Linda Broll and her husband Bob, Terry Wilson and his wife Debbie, Cindy Lynch and her husband Chris, and predeceased by his two sons Donnie and Bobby. He will be sadly missed by his grandchildren Shelly, Michael, Jason, Tasha, Kristy, Ryan, Kyle, Cory and Mandy, and his great grandchildren Brayden, Summer, Evelynn, Charlotte, Emerson and Bennett. Dear brother of Harvey and Dorothy.

Predeceased by five sisters and two brothers. He will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews and friends.

A special thank you to all the nurses and support staff of the 4th floor, Strawberry Fields, Hillsdale Estates for their amazing care of Roy.

Peacefully passed away, in residence, on Sunday, December 8, 2013, at the age of 91.

Predeceased and reunited with her loving husband Sam and son Gerry (Irene).

Loving mother of Stephen (Judy) of Halifax and Jon (Anne) of Newmarket. Cherished grandmother of Beth, Darren, Blair, Corrie, Gillian and Shannon. Proud great- grandmother of Kevin, Aiden, Camden, Alex, Rachel, Emily, Hayden and Skylar. Mom is survived by her sisters, Dorothy (Jimmy) of Markham and Pat (Bernie) of Godfrey and many extended family members in Ireland. Mom was the heart of our family and endured with grace and dignity and always with a smile on her face and a helping hand to others.

Many thanks to the staff at Sunrise of Aurora for their compassionate and loving care of Mom.

Cremation has taken place. The family will hold an Interment and memorial service in the spring.

Passed away Sunday, December 8, 2013, in hospital, after a long illness.

Predeceased by his wife, Edie (2002).

Survived by his sons Randy (Betty) and Gary (Jennifer) and grandchildren Beth, Christie and Colby. Survived by his sister, Bernice Mander. Jim will be lovingly remembered and missed by his in-laws, nieces, and nephews in Ontario and New Brunswick. Jim will also be missed by his friends at Humber Valley United Church, Lambton Golf & Country Club and Sunrise Senior Living.

Jim loved his wife, his family and his tree farm and weekend home in Caledon. He will be dearly missed by everyone who knew him. 

Service on Saturday, December 14th.

It is with great sadness the family announces the peaceful passing of Mary on Sunday, December 8, 2013, at Sunnycrest Nursing Home surrounded by her family.

Predeceased by her late husband Steve (1996).

Survived by her daughter Irene Lewis (Dick) of Brockville, Elsie Swerdfeger (Wayne) of Courtice, and Terry Bogucki (Irene) of Oshawa, as well her brother Steve Bobyk (Florence) of Toronto. 

Mary was the eldest of seven children born to Matthew and Ann Bobyk (nee: Sas). She is predeceased by her brothers; John, Mike, Peter, Bill, and sister; Kay (Latta).

Born in Montreal on December 15, 1917, Mary spent her childhood growing up in Sydney, Nova Scotia where she attended Sacred Heart Academy. She then moved to Creighton Mines, Ontario, where she met and married Joe Poloz who passed away in a mining accident.  Mary then moved to Oshawa, Ontario, and worked in the sewing department of General Motors until she met Steve. They married in 1948.

Mary is a proud Baba of Nicholas and Kristen Swerdfeger, Jennifer and Stephanie Bogucki.

A faithful parishioner of St. George the Great Martyr Ukrainian Catholic Church in Oshawa and long life member of the Ukrainian Catholic Women’s League in Oshawa. She received the Ontario Volunteer Service award for 50+ years of service to her Church and the LVIV hall.

Mary was shown compassion and care by the devoted and caring staff at Sunnycrest Nursing Home for 5 years, and truly enjoyed attending numerous activities planned by the staff, especially the church services every Sunday afternoon.

Resting at the ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME 124 King Street East, Oshawa, for Visitation on Tuesday December 10th from 2pm until 4pm & 7pm until 9pm, with Panachyda at 7:30pm.

Divine Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held at ST. GEORGE THE GREAT MARTYR UKRAINIAN CATHOLIC CHURCH on Wednesday, December 11th at 10am. Interment at St. Wolodymyr & St. Olha Cemetery Courtice.

It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Stanley Boguski in his beloved Jamaica.

Loving husband of Lucy for 40 years.

Much loved father of Mark (Leah) and Michael (Sherry). Adored Dziadza of William, Stella and Evelyn. Dear brother-in-law of Terry (Patti). The happiest times for Stan were when his grandchildren came over to visit and especially playing games with his little William.

Stan's wish came true when he had his family all together at Villa Nutmeg in Jamaica last Christmas. He was already planning the next family holiday. Although recent health issues prevented him from some of his many loves, like playing Thursday night tennis with the guys, going to TFC games and golfing, he was still able to enjoy movies, playing poker, talking history and going to fine restaurants for dinners, and most of all travelling the world with his beloved wife Luba.

Incredible gratitude must be given to all the staff at Half Moon Resort in Montego Bay, especially Paula Lilly, Lillian Crichton of the Canadian Consulate, Margaret Jones of the Jamaican Tourist Board, Pia Delapenha and Nurse Wiggan.

Marlene passed away quietly at Extendicare Hamilton on December 8, 2013.

She leaves behind her devoted Husband John of 57 years, sons Ronald (Shelley), Brian (Manola), Bruce (Renee), Michael (Michele). Six Grandchildren, Sarah (Chris), Steven (Marie), Leah, Alicia, Shannon, Michael. Five Great-grandchildren Dakota, Logan, Xander, Mykel and Jackson.

Her Brother Ted Kent (Shirley) and several Nieces and Nephews to mourn her loss.

Thank you to the in-house Doctors, nurses and support workers for all their loving care of Marlene during her stay at the Home, especially during her last days keeping her comfortable.

A service will be held on Wednesday, December 11 2013 in Hamilton.  Burial to follow.

Chant_Dorothywas born on July 6, 1918 and died peacefully in the hospital on December 8th, 2013.

She was a dental assistant in Oshawa for many years and later a GM employee.

She was pre-deceased by her husband, Emerson Chant, and by her brother, Harry Lawrence, both former GM employees. She is survived by her loving daughter Patricia (Gail) Jardine (Nee McNicol) and son-in-law, David Jardine, both from Bragg Creek, Alberta, her loving grandson Eric Henry Lawrence Jardine of Kingston, Ontario, and her sister-in-law, Violet Lawrence.

Sincere love, best wishes and thanks to her first cousins, Marilyn and Jim Mitchell, and to other friends, for their active care during Dorothy’s hospital stay.

Ken will be sadly missed by his beloved wife of 57 years, Anita, his loving son Paul (Lisa) and dear granddaughters Kristina and Meaghan.

Predeceased by his parents John and Jean and his brother Ron. John had many hobbies, including the military and collecting coins and stamps.

Vigil prayers will be held Tuesday evening at 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 139 Martin Street, Milton on Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at 12:00 p.m.

With deep sadness our family announces the passing of Jordi Danobeitia on December 8, 2013.

He passed away in his sleep after a long courageous struggle with both mental and physical illness. He is predeceased by his father Jose Antonio Danobeitia.

He is survived by his loving mother Karen Wynnychuk and beloved sister Martha Malloy and brother-in-law Connor Malloy.

His passing is a tragic loss to family and friends and he will be sorely missed.

A private funeral was held on Saturday, December 14, 2013.

A creative soul with a unique outlook on life, Jordi took up painting and music as his serious passions in life.

A Celebration of Life with a showing of his paintings will be held on Friday, January 10, 2013 between 5 and 8 p.m. at the Heliconian Club, 35 Hazelton Ave., Toronto.
