EDWARD, Leo Soye -
Edward passed away peacefully on the morning of May 15, 2013 in the company of his immediate family.
A loving husband to the late Anne Theresa Soye, caring father to Sharon Anne Soye and inspirational grandfather to Edward Peter Soye.
Born in Dublin, Ireland on November 4, 1925, to John and Georgina, he was the second oldest in a family of ten siblings - Maura, Georgina, Ursula, Robert and the late Elsie, Brenda, Tom, John and Willie. Before immigrating to Canada, Edward joined many of his relatives working on the railway, predominantly as a fireman.
After arriving in Canada, he joined Phoenix Applied Electronics. This was one of the many companies that became part of the Avro Canada empire, before eventually evolving into SPAR Aerospace. Despite the name and ownership changes, Ed essentially worked for the same company for his nearly 40-year career.
He never stopped appreciating the countless opportunities his career afforded him to learn new skills. Drawing on those skills, Ed was the perennial handyman who put his mechanical aptitude to work for the benefit of anyone who needed it.
After the passing of his wife, 20 years ago this August, he remained a rock of support for his daughter Sharon. Ed's longtime association with aviation also inspired his grandson (and namesake) Edward P. to become a pilot and devote much of his time to vintage aeroplanes.
Uncle Eddie will be remembered by his late wife's family, the Smiths, who have been steadfast supporters of their Soye cousins.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St Martin of Tours Roman Catholic Church, 1280 MCBride Ave., on Saturday, May 18, 2013, at 11 a.m.

Our hero has left the building... Lloyd, a fourth generation Torontonian has decided, with no small regret, to leave the party. A fervent lover of dogs, St. Patrick’s Day, the Rolling Stones, and Sunday night roast beef dinners.
