LU, I Lang (Helen) -
Passed away peacefully on May 15, 2013 at her Willowdale home surrounded by her loving family at the age of 81 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Beloved wife of Yu-Che, mother of Shirley and Henry, and Aunt of Pey. Affectionately known as "Mama Lu" Queen of Charity, she devoted her life to numerous charities including The Hospital for Sick Children, The United Way, The Heart & Stroke Foundation, The Daily Bread Food Bank, The Elizabeth Lue Fund and The Yee Hong Community Wellness Foundation.
She received numerous prestigious awards for her volunteering and social activism including The Canadian Centennial Medal, The Queen's Jubilee Medal and The Order of Ontario. A leader in the community, she was an active board member for The Yee Hong Community Wellness Foundation, Toronto ALPHA, and the founder of The Heart & Stroke Foundation - Chinese Canadian Council.
She will be remembered for her indefatigable spirit and passion in helping those in need regardless of their culture or background.
An inspiration to the countless volunteers that helped canvas for her causes, she taught young and old the satisfaction of philanthropy.
Funeral service to celebrate her life will be held on Sunday, May 26th.
Reception to follow at 1:30 p.m. at Yee Hong Centre - Scarborough Finch, 60 Scottfield Drive, Scarborough Ontario.

Deeply missed by wife Casandra, daughters: Dawn (Bob) and Lynn (Mike). Predeceased by parents: Lois and George Page. Cherished brother of Rena (late Ted) Dakin and the late Nadine (John) Stramba. Brother-in-law of James (Kim), Michael (Janet), Joe (Carol), Gloria (Randy), June (Bud), the late Doug (Diane). "Poppa" will be always in the hearts of grandchildren, Kaileigh, Jessica and Aidan.
Roll, an uncle and great-uncle will be remembered by his many nieces and nephews. Remembered by his children Doug, Darlene, the late Gary Page, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Fondly remembered by the Chong family. Roll's loss will be felt by his many friends here and in Florida and his beloved dog "Georgie".

SNOBELEN, Freda Mary (nee Harvey) -
Peacefully in Mississauga on May 15, 2013 in her 85th year.
Freda was born in Nova Scotia in 1928, and was the oldest surviving child in a close-knit family of ten.
She moved to Ontario after marrying her Mountie, Ross (1985). She was an outstanding mother to three children and a surrogate mother to many others.
She and Ross started a successful trucking company but she was just as dedicated to her volunteer work for the church, hospital and Kinettes. In her later years, her dogs and the gardens of her beloved farm in Georgetown gave her constant pleasure. Freda will always be loved and remembered for her generosity, grace, strength and humour by her family - daughters Kathie (Peter) and Mary (Greg) and son John (Sharon) and well as the two grandchildren she was so proud of, Adam (Jessica) and Diane.
She will also be missed by her large extended family of Harveys and Snobelens and by the many people whose lives she touched over the years.
A celebration of her life will be held at the Church of the Redeemer in Toronto on Saturday, May 25th at 1:30 p.m.

STEWART-PATTERSON, Lloyd Donald - B.Sc., MBA, Retired VP (AON) -
(December 11, 1943 – May 15, 2013)
Our hero has left the building... Lloyd, a fourth generation Torontonian has decided, with no small regret, to leave the party. A fervent lover of dogs, St. Patrick’s Day, the Rolling Stones, and Sunday night roast beef dinners.
Lloyd delighted in the per diem cocktail hour with his best friend and devoted wife of 42 years, Judy. He also leaves behind his two outstanding daughters Brooke Leland (Brian) and Amber Bukata (Matthew); and adored twin grandsons Austin and Nate Bukata.
Lloyd will be missed by his treasured brother Wynne (Gail), his loved cousin/”sister” Joy (John), his wonderful sisters and brothers in-law, his many dear nieces, and a “motley, loved and appreciated assortment of friends”.
Lloyd’s look and personality was a mix of Robert Redford from “The Natural," Clint Eastwood from “Gran Torino” and Bates from “Downton Abby." The man garnered great respect and loyalty throughout his life through his fine character and honourable actions. He in turn had tremendous admiration and respect for our Veterans of War.
Profound thanks to the TGH Blue Team, The Princess Margaret Hospital, his family of nurses at the Joseph Brant Cancer Clinic and the Carpenter Hospice. Thank you good people, for giving Lloyd a few more years to be with his loved ones.
Respecting Lloyd’s wishes, there will be a private family wake to honour a very brave man. Arrangements out of Burlington.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother and excellent friend, Gwen Taylor on May 15th following a brief illness.
Born and raised on a farm in Orono, Ontario, Gwen pursued a career in nursing and worked at Sick Children's Hospital in Toronto before moving to Brampton with her husband, Keith. Gwen's focused commitment to her family is evidenced in the exceptional commitment, care and love she shared over 10 long years of Keith's illness. She was predeceased by Keith, her parents, Elsie and Marshall Chatterton and her brother Orville; as well as Keith's parents Madeline and Ewart Taylor and brother-in-law Don. She leaves behind her daughters Nancy (Roger Burrill) and Bonnie (John Gilchrist); grandchildren Sara, Emma, Peter and Marshall; niece Carol and nephew David.
Among many good and lifelong friends, she leaves behind her loving friend, Stewart Cornell. Gwen was an amazing woman who had such backbone, endurance and warmth of spirit. We will all miss her.
A celebration of Gwen's life will be held Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at St. Paul's United Church, 30 Main Street South, Brampton at 11:00 a.m.
Following a reception in the church hall, interment will follow at Brampton Cemetery.

President Hamilton Shriners Club (1963), Former Director United Appeal (1960-1965), President Hamilton Thistle Curling Club (1972), Member Ryerson United Church (since 1932) Former Elder, Life member Hamilton Gun Club (since 1966), Member Probus Club of Hamilton, former member Burlington Golf Club (over 30 years).
He was a Duck Hunter & Decoy maker since 1937 made 70 decoys, Former member Tamahaac Club.
A special thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff for the excellent care at the Juravinski Hospital.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Stanislaw on May 15, 2013, in his 55th year. After a lengthy and courageous battle with ALS, Stasiek died peacefully with his family by his side.
Born in Wolow, Poland to Anna and the late Michal Wroblewski.
Stasiek was the cherished husband and best friend of Liz for 28 years. Amazing and much beloved father of Linda, Mark, Anne and the late John Michael.
Will be fondly remembered by his sister-in-law Anna (late John) Martynek, his nephew Michael (Susan) with their children Ashleigh and Melissa, his niece Cindy (Sean), and their children Jaxon and Spencer, his godmother Mary Oleniuk and her family, and sister in Canada Mary Rusak (Steve).
He also leaves behind many brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews in Poland.
Stasiek was a decent, generous, and fun-loving man who has left his family and friends with so many memories that will be treasured forever.
Special thanks to Drs: Wilk, Ladak and Azis of the Palliative Care team. Also a very special thank you to Maurice, Janette and Emily for their loving compassion and care.

After a long and brave battle, Mel passed away peacefully at home surrounded by the love and tender care of his family.
Mel was a hardworking, devoted husband, father, grandfather and great- grandfather. He is survived by his best friend and wife of 65 years, Marjorie, their 8 children, sons Ron and James (Susan) and daughters Marjorie, Nancy, Susan Tasikas (Emile), Kathy Yanuziello (Mike), Jan Hyndman (Ian) and Karen Baglole (Ken). Mel was happiest when he was surrounded by his family, including his eleven grandchildren, and five surviving great-grandchildren. He was looking forward to welcoming 2 more great- grandchildren this summer.
Mel enjoyed a special relationship with his much loved sister Helen. He will be sorely missed by his sister- in-law Millie MCGrail and his many nieces and nephews.
We appreciate and wish to thank all the help we received, especially from Eva, the PSW from CCAC and Lauren from St. Elizabeth Nurses.

It is with deep sadness that the Breckels family announces the peaceful passing of the family's matriarch Doreen Breckels on May 14, 2013 at Nisbet Lodge, Toronto.
At 96 years young, she lived a full and happy life with a wonderful sense of humour and a life-long love for both East York and Muskoka. Her family was her world.
She will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her daughter, Sandra Mitchell and son, David Breckels, (predeceased by husband Ernie Breckels and son Tom Breckels). She will be greatly missed by her favourite son-in-law Doug Mitchell and loving daughter-in-law Deb Breckels. She will be especially missed by her adoring grandchildren, Carolyn Griffis, Paula Mitchell, Stephen Breckels (and Holly Deyarmond Breckels), Adam Breckels, Chelsea Breckels and great-grandchildren Amanda Griffis, Mitchell Griffis and Fenway Breckels. She will be fondly remembered by life-long friend and sister-in-law Shirley Taylor (predeceased by sister- in-law Helen Cotton), nephews John Cartwright (and Joan Cartwright) Paul Cartwright (predeceased by brother Fred Cartwright and sister-in-law Jeune Cartwright), Jimmy Cotton, niece Joanne Papps and cousin Eileen Walker. She will be sadly missed by many great-nephews and great-nieces and other family members, friends and neighbours she knew and loved.
The Breckels family would like to recognize and thank Glen Moorhouse and the nurses and staff at Nisbet Lodge for their constant care, respect and kindness to our mother while a resident there.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Max (Marian) Burlan.
He bravely fought a losing battle with cancer. He peacefully passed away on Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at Bridgepoint Health Centre.
He will be missed by his cousins Mimi, Tina and Vio, his many nieces and nephews, goddaughter Sami, his mother and sister and many friends.
He will be sadly missed.
