MacLEOD, Neil Gordon MacLeod - Obituary | Print |

MacLEOD, Neil Gordon -

MacLeod_NeilA True Gentleman - Suddenly, but peacefully and surrounded by family on Thursday April 23, 2015 at the age of 69.

He was a devoted husband and will be sorely missed by his loving wife of 47 years Gerda, his daughter Susan (Jamie Crane), son Wesly (Inge), and his 2 granddaughters who he adored Charlotte and Mya. Fondly remembered by his siblings, Joan (Bryan) McEwen, Ian (Gail) MacLeod, Barry (Verna) MacLeod, Betty (the late Jim) Ross, many nieces and nephews, and close friends.

He was a proud and respected OPP officer for 31 years stationed in Cornwall (in his younger years), then Guelph and Elora for most of his career. He retired in 1995 where he started up a general construction business, and has continued to serve the Guelph area with pride. You would often see his truck loaded with materials and tools speeding around the city between jobs.

It was the simple things in life that he enjoyed and never took for granted - from antique tractor and steam shows to old car exhibits. Above all Neil was devoted to his family, a loving husband, a doting father, a proud and loving Poppa. His neighbors will miss 'The Mayor of Picadilly' and the younger generation will miss teasing 'Neil the Peel.'

Arrangements out of GuelphThe family would like to sincerely thank the staff at Guelph General Hospital Critical Care Unit. Your care and understanding helped to make these difficult times more bearable. We would also like to extend our gratitude to family friend Dr. David Callen for all of his support.

Neil would give the shirt off his back to help others and was a firm believer in organ donation. Even after his passing, he is still helping and would be extremely happy that his organs are being used to help save others. In lieu of flowers, we encourage everyone to go to www.beadonor.ca and sign up, as well as making sure your loved ones know your wishes, or make a memorial contribution to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
