Passed away peacefully with family and friends by her side on October 22, 2014 in her 90th year.

She was predeceased by her parents Joseph Sanderson and Mary Alice Adiline (Dawson), her brothers Joseph Robert Dennis, Malcolm Keith and her sister Estelle Ruth (Hassey) and her husband William Coupé.

Sylvia is survived by her sons John Nicholas and his wife Sandie, and Paul Anthony of Kitchener, Ontario, as well as her nieces Keren Geraldin (Adams) and Jennifer Ruth Hassey and nephew Nigel Robert Hassey all of Great Britain.

Sylvia immigrated to Canada from Great Britain in 1957 with her husband William and son John. Over the years they moved a number of times, including stops in Pembroke and Kitchener, Ontario where her son Paul was born in 1964. Later, they resided in British Columbia and Saskatchewan before returning to Kitchener after the death of her husband William in the 1990's.

Sylvia worked for Sears until her retirement in 1984. In her spare time she enjoyed her Sorority (Beta Sigma Phi) and working with the Canadian Diabetes Association, as well as painting and crafts. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Visitation will be held this Sunday, October 26th at the RATZ-BECHTEL FUNERAL HOME, 621 King Street W. Kitchener, 519-745-9495 from 4 - 8 pm.

Funeral Service will be in the chapel on Monday, October 27th at 10 am.

Donations in Sylvia's memory may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.

Cherished grandmother of 15 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren. Dear aunt of many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents John and Florence Hatfield and her brother James W. Hatfield.

Funeral services will be held at the Hespeler Salvation Army, 18 Tannery St. East, Cambridge on Saturday, October 25, 2014, at 11 am.

Beloved wife of the late Paul Hamel (1995).

Dear mother of Pauline Bergman (Les) and Jane Hamel. Loving grandmother of Heather Zunic (Dino) and Alison Orth (John). Special great-grandmother of Elayna, Sabrina, Avril and Drake. Predeceased by her parents Isaiah and Catharine Thoman.

Jean was a dedicated homemaker and loved all her grandchildren dearly. Her hopes were fulfilled with the arrival of her three great-grandchildren who brought her much joy.

A private family funeral service will be held on Friday, October 24th.

Passed away at Cambridge Memorial Hospital on October 22, 2014 of congestive heart failure in her 93rd year.

She is predeceased by her parents, husband Terence (2003), brother George (2014), sister Beryl and son Christopher (1957). She is survived by her beloved daughter Carol (Bob) Cooper. Also survived by her loving niece Linda and family, and by nephew Brian and family, all of England.

Noreen, Terry and Carol left England and settled in Windsor, Ontario where Noreen resided until 2008, when she moved to Cambridge, Ontario and settled into Riverbend Place. She loved her new home and made many new friends of both residents and staff.

Our heartfelt thanks to Brenda, Gail, Susan, the medical staff, and all staff of Riverbend Place-you were like family to Mum. Thanks also to Erica and other nurses of CCAC, who provided Mum with health care over time. And special thanks to CMH nurses: Emergency Nurse Judy and 5th Floor nurses-Kyra, Joanna, Maria, Ashley and Whitney for your compassionate care of Noreen this past week.

Cremation has taken place. A private memorial will be set at a later date.

Born March 7, 1940 in Steeves Settlement, New Brunswick, went home to be with the Lord surrounded by her family on Wednesday October 22, 2014 at the Cambridge Memorial Hospital.

Cherished wife of Clelland McConnell.

Daughter of the late Alfonso and Violet (nee Killam) Steeves. Survived by her sisters Marilyn (Gerald) Steeves, Doreen (Donald) Ogilvie, Constance (Walter) Alward, and Beverly (Donald) Harper; brothers Graham (special friend Katherine), Philip (Lynn), Ronald (Hazel), Deverne (Dorine) and Lynton; brother-in-law Jim (Freda) McConnell and sister-in-law Dorothy McConnell, as well as 30 nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her sister-in-law Judy Steeves.

Leota Retired from Midas Canada after 28 years. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, cruises and bicycling. Her joy of life and strength of faith was very inspirational especially during the ten years of her illness.

She received wonderful care from Dr. Chouinard and his team and from the doctors and nurses at Cambridge Memorial Hospital during her last few weeks.

At Leota’s request cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service to celebrate Leota’s life will be held at Cedar Creek Community Church, 2042 Dumfries Rd, Cambridge, on Monday October 27, 2014 at 11a.m., with the family receiving friends one hour prior.

Passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at Nithview Coummunity, New Hamburg on October 21, 2014. He was born 93 years ago in Mount Albert and was the son of the late William & Mary Ann (Mitchell) Plummer.

Beloved husband of the late Margaret (Luckhart) Plummer who predeceased him in 1979. Loving father of Rosemary Plummer, Janet Plummer and Larry (predeceased) & his wife Cheryl Plummer all of New Hamburg. Sadly missed by his grandchildren Ryan (Patty), Brayden (Hailey), Janine and his precious great-granddaughter Edie.

Herbert was predeceased by his sister Elsie & husband Idris Jones

Herbert was predeceased by his second wife Sonia (Long) Plummer in 2009. Missed by her children Kevin Long of Sharbot Lake and Derrick Long of Wiarton and her grandchildren Jaeden, Jorya and Kianha and their mother Brenda.

Remembered by the Jones and Luckhart families as well as many valued friends.

He was a devoted father and grandfather who had a profound impact on their lives. He enjoyed woodcarving, carpentry, fishing and gardening as hobbies. He volunteered for many years at the New Hamburg Thrift Store. Herbert was a member of Ontario Street Baptist Church, Stratford.

The funeral service will be held in New Hamburg on Saturday October 25th, with Rev. Frank Morgan officiating.  Interment to follow in New Hamburg.

MATZEK, Ella (Berg)

It is with heartfelt sadness, thankfulness and deep appreciation that we announce the passing of Ella (nee Berg) Matzek on October 20, 2014.

She leaves behind her children, Bert (Brenda), Rita, and Daniel (Nicole), as well as, five grandchildren: Jesse, Niclas, Tobi, Luis, and Jamie. Also grieving their loss at this time are Ella's siblings, Emma (Willy), Otto (Elfriede), and Lothar. Ella is survived by brothers-in-law, Emil and Reinhard (Pierjko), sisters-in-law, Hildegard, Vera, and Hilde. She will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews, as well as, great-nieces and nephews. Ella was predeceased in death by her beloved husband, Reinhold, parents, parents-in-law, siblings Ida and Rudolph (infant), numerous brothers- and sisters-in-law, as well as, three nephews.

A Funeral Service will take place in Kitchener, on Friday, October 24th.

In place of flowers, donations to Samaritan's Purse would be appreciated by the family.

McGregor_GeorgeSlept away peacefully at home, following a battle with Parkinson's, on Monday October 20, 2014 at the age of 84.

Born in Glasgow, Scotland in December 1929, served in Egypt in the forces in 1944, served his time as an apprentice, painter, decorator. Came to Canada with his wife in 1973 and loved Canada very much. A keen photographer and walker, a quiet man who loved life. Also a well-traveled man, visiting many countries globally. His last visit was Cuba in July 2014, and liked a wee dram now and again.

He will be greatly missed by his loving wife Susan, son Alan who lives in England, and grandsons Andrew and Alan and his wife Kay. A great loss to all family and friends worldwide, his great grandsons and friends in Kitchener.

He used to say 'Lang may ur lumb reek'. A true Scotsman. 'Gregalach' battle cry of the McGregor Clan.

Service will be held in Waterloo, on Monday, October 27th.

Bob passed away peacefully at Hospice Wellington , with his family by his side, after a courageous battle with cancer, on Monday, October 20, 2014.

Loving husband of 50 years to Karen (Baulk) and sadly missed by his children, Cindy Mitton Wilkie (Mike), and Scott Mitton (Carolyn). Fondly remembered by his grandchildren, Sydney, Becky, Cassie and Tyler.

Predeceased by his parents Sydney and Audrey Mitton. Dear brother of Barbara Nichols (Paul) and missed by nieces and nephews.

Sincere thanks to the staff at Hospice Wellington, the Grand River Regional Cancer Centre, and Bayshore Nurses for their kindness and support. 

A Funeral Service will be held in Guelph on Friday, October 24th. A private interment to take place in Puslinch.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to Hospice Wellington or the Grand River Regional Cancer Centre would be appreciated by the family.

Survived by her daughter Karen (Gerald) Ryan of London, ON, sons Alan of London, ON, Kenneth of Airdrie, AB, Martin (Dwight Ferris) of Kelowna, BC, grandchildren David (Carol Charles), Susan (John) Nieuwenhoff, Christine (Jeremy) Durand, Kelly (Naomi) Ryan, Victoria (Paul) Tiege, Thomas (Tina), great grandchildren Rylan, Kieran, Paul, Sullivan, Thea, Olivia, Connor, and Larissa, sister-in-law Lillian Ducharme of London, ON, and brother-in-law Paul, (Inga) Russell, and many nieces and nephews. Sadly predeceased by her husband Cullen, her son Michael, her grandson Paul Ryan and her 11 siblings.

A Catholic Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph's R.C. Church on Saturday, October 25th at 11 a.m. Rev. Fr. Dick Bester will be Celebrant. Interment to follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer Society of BC, Kelowna, BC.

Passsed away Monday, October 20, 2014 at St. Mary’s General Hospital, Kitchener at the age of 70 years.

Elizabeth (Hoover) Sherk was the wife of Rueben H. Sherk of RR 3, Wellesley.

Mother of Tilman and Neoma Sherk of RR 1, Wallenstein, Selema and David Martin of RR 1, St. Clements, Sidney and Nancy Sherk of RR 3, Wellesley, Jesse and Lydiann Sherk of RR 2, Proton Station, Nelson and Mary Sherk of RR 3 Wellesley, Melivin and Salome Sherk of RR 3, Wellesley, Nancy and Aaron Bauman of RR 1, Millbank, Rueben and Lydia Sherk, Elizabeth and Issac Bauman, David and Angeline Sherk, Paul and Minerva Sherk all of RR 3, Wellesley, and Lucinda and Aaron Martin of RR 1, Millbank.

Survived by four sisters, five brothers and numerous grandchildren.

Predeceased by her parents Martin and Rebecca Hoover, sister Mary Ann Bauman, and brother Jonas Hoover.

Interment and funeral service will be held at Wellesley Crosshill Mennonite Meeting House.

VanDeByl_AlbertAt age 65, of Stratford and formerly of Woodstock, passed away peacefully, with his family by his side on Monday, October 20, 2014, at Stratford General Hospital.

Born in Holland son of the late Dirk and Aartje (Dee) Van de Byl.

Survived by his loving wife Joan (Heinbuck) Van de Byl. Albert is survived by his children Allan (Tara) Van de Byl, Amy (Christian Mallet) Van de Byl and Sherry (Ivan) Messerschmidt. Special mention to his wonderful niece Melissa Van de Byl-Eveleigh.

Grandpa will be missed by Brendan, Coty, Hunter, Brooklyn, Kaylee, Sierra, Logan, Michael and Michelle as well as his beloved pets Missy and Kitt. His siblings; Art, Dirk, Clarence and John will miss their brother. Albert is survived by his in-laws; Ann Lindensmith, Bernice and Mike Hishon and Alfred and Audrey Heinbuck along with nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents Albert was predeceased by brothers, Marteen and Maury and a brother-in-law Lindy Lindensmith.

As per Albert's request cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held at a later date.

As expressions of sympathy, memorial donation may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Choices For Change.
