Born in Orangeville, ON on December 21, 1937, the fourth of five daughters to Thomas and Alta (nee Williams) Barrett, her early childhood was marked by the death of her mother when she was four. Raised by a loving extended family, including her father, stepmother, Dolly (Mary Wheeler), beloved aunts and uncles, Jessie and Leslie Bowman; Norma Williams; Carl and Irene Williams, and dear family friends, Frank and Connie Cooper, she spent her childhood growing up in Niagara Falls, Galt, and Terra Cotta.

 

BURRIDGE, Nellie  -  Passed away peacefully on Friday, October 20, 2017 in her 72nd year.

Beloved wife of Gary Burridge. Loving mother of Kimberly (Ron) Caton. Devoted Nana of Spencer, Logan and Derek.

Ken was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Monkton.  He enjoyed hunting and playing cards with his Monkton friends.

Shepperd CodySHEPPERD, Cody Robert  -  With broken hearts and great sadness, we announce the sudden passing of Cody Friday October 20th, 2017.

Cody was known for his fun loving free spirit, his love for athletics and his infectious smile. Cody was an accomplished wrestler at both National and Provincial levels. He showed grit, toughness and dedication to mastering this most difficult sport. He was very coachable, and would take minor suggestions from his coaches and implement them immediately. He also gave back to the sport, volunteering his time to break down the sport to encourage up and coming athletes. This is a true testament of his character and truly showed his passion for the sport. His other hobbies that brought him much joy included lacrosse, snowboarding, and golfing with his dad.

 

McLEOD, Ruth Emma  -  Peacefully at home with her loving family by her side on Friday, October 20, 2017 in her 94th year.

Beloved wife of 67 years of the late Bruce (2015).

Loving mother of Duncan (Susan) and Sheena. Cherished grandma of Rory, Heather, Malcolm (Naomi), Gregor (Lindsay) and Kathleen. Adoring GG to Callum, Angus and Harris.

She is survived by her youngest brother Herbert Andrew. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law Norma and Donalda. Predeceased by her brothers Thomas Alexander, John Douglas and Robert Edward. She will be sadly missed by her many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

 

Horvath JamesHORVATH, James John  -  Passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving wife and his three daughters, in Cambridge, Ontario on Friday, October 20th at the age of 87. 

Jim is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Mary, his daughters Mary (Nick), Helen (Michael) and Elizabeth (John), and grandchildren Michael Nemeth (Lindsay), David Nemeth (Gillian), and Emily, Elaine and Stephen Sloan. 

He will also be lovingly remembered by his brother Leslie Horvath (Joan), many nieces, nephews, and extended family Amber, Dennis, Mike, Amanda and family. 

He was predeceased by his sister Elizabeth Tari and his brother Gerry Horvath.

He was 'Hon' and devoted husband to Patricia for 48 yrs and 'My Dad' to Christina Ayre (Chris) Cheryl Paterson (Mark) and son Paul. He was a very proud 'Papa' to Isaac, Hudson, Kyra and Rowan.
Gerry was one of 7 boys and 3 girls born in Onstwedde, Netherlands to Antonius and Gezina.

He was predeceased by his parents, baby brother J. Herman and sister Siena. He leaves behind his brothers Jan (Dianne), Bennett (Betty), Tony (Jane), Herman (Pat) and Bill (Lucy) and sisters Agatha and Cornelia Schlachter (John).

Runions JamesRUNIONS, James (Jim) Allan  -  (Q.C.)  -  (July 19, 1931 - October 19, 2017)  -  Passed away after a lengthy illness in his 87th year. Born in London, Ont. to Hazel (nee Thomson) and Arthur Dixon Runions.

As a child he travelled with his father, an Agricultural Rep., watching him introduce modern farming techniques to farmers during the Depression and War years. He enrolled at Ontario Agricultural College ('OAC') where he earned a B.Sc. in Microbiology in 1955. He trained as an Armoured Officer during school to help fund his education, and became a Lieutenant in the 11th Field Regiment Royal Canadian   Artillery. 

 

Land ChristopherLAND, Christopher  -  Peacefully passed away at Cambridge Memorial Hospital on Thursday, October 19, 2017 in his 56th year. 

Loving son of Martyn and Brenda Land; dear brother of Julie Croteau (John) and will be fondly remembered by his nephew Jonathon and by nieces Emily and Madeline. 

Chris fought long and hard to beat Muscular Dystrophy with the love and care of his family.

Naylor WilliamNAYLOR, William (Bill)  –  Of RR3 Monkton, passed away peacefully on Thursday October 19, 2017 at the age of 90, two days after his beloved wife Ruby passed away. 

Bill was a member of Knox Presbyterian Church Monkton where he served as Clerk of Session for over 20 years. He enjoyed quilting for missions and charities, woodworking, playing cards with friends from Monkton, had a keen interest in forestry and was always trying new farming techniques. Bill was also a former caretaker of North Logan Cemetery.

Loving father of Ernie (Leslie), Beth Sorensen (Tom), Ken (Angela) and Jerry. Special grandpa of Josh, Daniel, Ben, Dana, Alexander and William.
