For years, we have posted regional death notices as a free public service, while taking on the complete cost of publishing ourselves. We can no longer do so.

Without participating Funeral Centres, Cemeteries, Monument Suppliers and Local Businesses advertising with us, we can no longer run this website at a financial deficit.

We have received dozens of emails by folks upset at the discontinuation of our daily updates, and we apologize.  We also love this site, and considered it a great service to the public by accumulating and listing all Regional Obituaries in one spot.

Also, we appreciate the privacy to not contact the families of friends for funeral arrangements who may be shortly passing, as well as, friends not having to frequently check all local funeral centre websites for service information.

Leandres JoséLEANDRES, José de Freitas  –  Passed away peacefully at Cambridge Memorial Hospital on Friday June 8, 2018 at the age of 84.        

Predeceased by his beloved wife Maria das Dores (nee Bairos).        

Cherished father of Fernanda (John) Mate and Jean (Brent) Robertson. Proud grandfather of Austin, Lucas, Avery, Travis and Carter. 

Beloved brother of Maria, Helena, Conceição, Eugenia, predeceased by Antonio, Manuel and Rosa. José will also be sadly missed by his many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends, especially his friends at the woodworking shop at the David Durward Centre, where José spent many days for over 15 years. 

Resting at Corbett funeral home, Cambridge, where family and friends will be received on Sunday June 10, 2018 from 5-9p.m. Rosary will be recited at 8p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Fatima Roman Catholic Church, 185 Elgin St. S., Cambridge, on Monday June 11, 2018 at 10a.m. Interment will follow at Parklawn Cemetery. 

The family would like to express a special thank you to the doctors, and staff of the I.C.U and the surgical third floor of Cambridge Memorial Hospital for their excellent care and compassion. 

In lieu of flowers, donations made to the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
