Beloved wife of Basil J. Krusky.

Dear mother of William and his wife Heidi of Guelph; Carol Ann and her husband Noel Brett of Guelph/Eramosa; Karen and her husband Robert Holliday of Guelph; Mark and his wife Linda of Guelph/Eramosa; Rosemary and her husband Mark Newbigging of Guelph; Matthew and his wife Linda of Milton and the late Joseph.

Loved grandmother of 21 grandchildren and 1 great grandson. Dear sister of the late George Bond (late Joyce). Loved cousin of Bernice Morley of Guelph.

Funeral Mass on Saturday, April 27th at the Church of Our Lady at 10:00 o’clock. Interment.

McNally_DoneldaDied peacefully, under the compassionate care at Hospice Wellington, April 23, 2013. 

Eldest daughter of Hazel & Cary Workman. 

 Beloved wife and best friend to Elvin.  Much beloved mother to John Bullock (Nancy Dickieson) and the late Carolyn (2006). 

Sadly missed by her sister Norma (Brian); brothers, James (Alice) and Jack (Jessie deceased); many nieces and nephews and her dear friends, Hannah and Emilie.   

Predeceased by her sister, Mary and brother, Frank. Donnie was born at home on the 16th of Peel, on June 21, 1927. She went to a rural school, walking three miles uphill each way and then to Arthur District High School. 

Donnie worked mainly on switchboards.  First for Bell and then for 30 years at the University of Guelph while she raised John and Carolyn.  Elvin was quite privileged to marry Donnie in 1971 and they spent many happy years together. 

Donnie was quite active in church work, establishing Dunara Group Homes and the Schizophrenia Society. She loved preparing meals for family functions. 

Donnie’s last clear words to Elvin were, "I want to go home with you".

Funeral Service will be held in Guelph on Friday, April 26 at 2:00 p.m. with burial to follow. 

Memorial contributions to Hospice Wellington or Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.

Owens_JulieJulie, age 42, passed away at Grand River Hospital on Tuesday, April 23rd after a short but brave battle with cancer.

She was taken away much too soon from her Mom, her grandmother, her aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and co-workers.

She is survived by her mother Catherine Owens, who was her best friend and travelling companion. Julie was predeceased by her father Marv Owens. She is survived by her grandmother, Helen Kennedy and the Kennedy family – Robert and Linda, Bruce and Donna, Shirlee and Garnet Dobsky, Barbara, Karen and Bruce Lawrence, Doug, Richard and Elaine. She will also be missed by her Uncle Ray and Aunt Charmaine Owens.

She was loved by her Kennedy cousins Rob (Sharon), Colleen, Steven (Joan E), David, Kevin and Vanessa, Dean, Stephanie, Vanessa, Lindsay, Jessica, Brittany, Sarah, Jade, Kelsee, Liam, Callum and Caitlin, and her Owens cousins Brad (Kate, Jonah and Benn) and Stacey (Keith MacMillan).

She is also survived by her furry friend Molly, her best friends Elissa McMicking (Adelaide, Australia) who flew in to see Julie when she was ill, Barton Leslie, (Hong Kong), Paul Raymond and Christian Honora (Adelaide, Australia).

Julie was the Site Plan Coordinator at the City of Guelph Planning Department and did what she most enjoyed – urban planning. She was the past president of CACPT Canada and coordinated a number of planning and environmental conferences. She previously worked at MHBC, IBI and Dare, Sutton, Clarke (Adelaide Australia).

Julie enjoyed gardening and landscape design as evidenced by her lovely pond and gardens, playing baseball, volleyball, beach volley ball, dodge ball and travelling the world (Egypt, Dubai, Doha, Italy, Spain, Croatia, Slovenia, Greece, Columbia, England, Portugal, Africa, New Zealand, Bali, Mexico, Dominican Republic, Cuba) to see the finest examples of architecture and urban design. She was particularly fond of Savannah, Charleston and New Orleans. She was passionate about rescue dogs and volunteered at the K-W Humane Society. Jack, her first rescue dog was a blood donor at UVG and Molly, her second rescue dog is an Alzheimer's therapy dog.

She is deeply missed by her work buddy Chris deVriende (Marina) who was her daily travelling companion and her co-workers, especially Donna Couto who was a great support and Tammy Hogg who enjoyed margaritas with her while on vacation, after volleyball and baseball games, and in general was a great friend. Her neighbours Alfred and Cheryl Bott and Jay and Lisa Roy will miss her at the neighbourhood get togethers. Thank you to Eva and Rob Plach who were also great friends.

Julie was predeceased by her grandparents, Louis Kennedy, Milton and Marguerite Owens and her loving Aunt Janet Kennedy.

Cremation has taken place. Julie will be buried alongside her father at Williamsburg Cemetery and has also requested that her ashes be spread along the beach in South Australia where she deep sea and shark-tank dived.

Visitation with the family will be held Thursday, April 25th from 2- 4 pm. and 7-9 pm.at RATZ-BECHTEL FUNERAL HOME, 621 King St. W., Kitchener, ON N2G 1C7.

A private memorial service will be held on Saturday.

Formerly of Cobourg, Ethel entered into her heavenly reward April 23, 2013 surrounded by her family.

She leaves behind her loving husband of 53 years Pastor Earl Young, her sons Scott and Peter of Sarasota and Rodney of Corpus Christi and her daughters-in-love Darla, Tammy and Marisa and her wonderful eight treasured grandchildren - Amanda (Neil), Holly, Wesley, Christie, Charity, Jesse, Michael and Hannah.

Ethel was born and raised in the Ottawa Valley and lived in Ontario until she moved to Sarasota, Florida more than 15 years ago. She leaves behind a lasting legacy of lives touched in the many churches that she served as a minister of the gospel for more than 50 years in both Ontario and Sarasota.

A service of celebration was held at Church of Hope - 1560 Wendell Kent Road, Sarasota, Florida on Sunday, April 28.

Predeceased by her parents Ezra and Louisa (Bauman) Martin, sisters Adeline Martin and Elmina Brubacher, and brothers Onias, Leander and Milton.

Maryann’s love for her Saviour was reflected in her gentle and loving spirit through her service to others. Whether it was raising her large family, serving at church, or assisting fellow residents at Chateau Gardens she did so quietly and faithfully. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Arrangements out of Elmira. The funeral service will be held at Woodside Bible Fellowship on Thursday, April 25th at 1 p.m. followed by interment.

Survived by many nieces and nephews. A huge thank-you to all the home care nurses and the nurses at Grand River Hospital, especially those on the 5th Floor, for all of your help and support on our journey.

Mary was born in Mt. Forest where she met the love of her life. She had many wonderful friends and was quick to lend a hand to those in need. Everyone loved and admired Mary for her kindness, love, compassion and endearing smile! As one friend said "She did it all with such style and grace". Mary drew her strength from her family. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren at the cottage and enjoyed watching them play hockey, figure skate and play soccer.

Funeral service 3 pm on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, 54 Queen St. N., Kitchener followed by a reception in Iona Hall. Cremation to follow.

Jean loved the great outdoors and enjoyed gospel music to the very end.

Service to celebrate Jean’s life will be held at Waterloo Christian Reformed Church, 209 Bearinger Road, Waterloo on Friday, April 26, 2013 at 11:00a.m. Rev. Vicki Cok officiating.

"Jim" was the beloved husband and best friend of Elaine for over 51 years. 

Dear father of Lisa Bigam (Joe Contini) and Kim Bigam (Rochelle Christie).  Proud Grandpa of Megan, Molly and Sara Contini.  He will also be missed by Kyle, Lauren and Cameron MacFarlane.  Jim is survived by siblings; Ronald (Ruth Anne), Gordon, Elsie Dunn and sister-in-law, Shirley and their families.   

He will be remembered as a supportive, dedicated grandfather, having spent many hours cheering at minor hockey and baseball games.  He thoroughly enjoyed his teaching career, as well as gardening, curling and playing cards. 

At Jim’s request, there will be no services. 

Cremation has taken place and he will be laid to rest at a later date.

He will be sadly missed by 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grand-children and many nieces and nephews. Dear brother of Eileen, Peter and Mary of England. Derrick will also be missed by many friends locally and in Florida.

Passed away peacefully at Cambridge Memorial Hospital, on Sunday April 21st, 2013 in his 65th year.

Beloved husband of Shirley Rettinger.

Father of Dan, and Kim Jans, and step-sons Mark Hagey, Jamie Hagey and Greg Hagey.

Also survived by 5 grandchildren.

Cremation has taken place.

There will be no visitation or services at this time.

Jones_ValeneValene (Val) Jones, née Varey, 72, died peacefully at Groves Memorial Hospital, Fergus on April 21, 2013 following a short but fierce battle against cancer.

She will be remembered by Henry, her husband of 53 years, her three children Viki (Tom Sweetman), Chris (Helen Michel) and Tina (Dominique Blanc) and her five grandchildren Nathalie, Erik, Elliott, Xavier and Kali, predeceased by her parents Elgie and Pearl Varey and brother Leonard and survived by her sister and friend Lynda King, her nephew Daniel and nieces Christina and Melissa on her side.

She will also leave behind a large extended family on the Jones side, including godchildren and special nieces and nephews too numerous to mention.

Tea parties, tutoring, painting and travel were special to her. Val was an inspiration to many through her passion for teaching in the separate and public school systems in Wellington, North Wellington, Bruce-Grey, Halton regions, as well as in the Northwest Territories and Nunavut. Val's true love was education, but was rivaled by her creating and collecting of art, adopting and spoiling her menagerie of pets and indulging her grandchildren. She will be fondly remembered as a unique, authentic and vibrant woman by those whose lives she touched.

Val requested that Dr. Jafferjee and the dedicated and supportive health care teams at Groves Memorial and the Juravinski Cancer Centre be thanked. Private Cremation has taken place.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Guelph, on Monday, April 29th.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Learning Disabilities Association of Wellington County (LDAWC), Groves Memorial Hospital or the Juravinski Cancer Centre Gynecology Oncology Clinic would be appreciated.

Beloved wife of the late Ronald Lawson (1984).

Loving mother of Gloria and her husband Bill Stumpf, Robert (Bob) and his wife Charlotte, and the late James (Jim - 2003) Lawson.

Proud grandmother of Melody Stumpf (Wesley Marquardt), Pattie Stumpf (Carey Rittinger), Robin (Phil) Holmes, Rhett Lawson, Chris Lawson, Mark Lawson (Tasha), James, Brian and Kyle Lawson and the late Kevin Stumpf (1990). Her great grandchildren whom she adored are Jason and Jack Holmes and Kaden Marquardt. Dear sister of Joyce and her husband Stan Novak. 

Memorial Service in Kitchener on Saturday April 27th.

Cremation has taken place.

Special thanks to Conestogo Lodge Staff for welcoming Mom to her new home, and 5th Floor Nursing Staff at St. Mary's Hospital for their excellent care.

Peacfully, with her family by her side, at Victoria Hospital, London, on Sunday, April 21, 2013.

Nancy Lynn Meatherall, in her 57th year, was the beloved wife of the late Douglas Schmuck (2012).

She was the loving mother of Melissa (Dennis Baccin), and Jeff (Tiffany Thompson), and step-mother of Todd Schmuck and John Schmuck (Emily Pauw). She was the proud grand-mother of Felicity and Mattea. Nancy was the dear sister of Janet Phillips, (Dave), Carol Askew (Rick), Pat Richards, and Lawrie Gill (Drew). 

A Service of Remembrance will be held in Guelph on Saturday, April 27th.

Parker_Velmaof Kitchener, went home to be with her Lord and Saviour on Sunday, April 21, 2013.

She was born 88 years ago on May 29, 1924, and raised on the family farm in Bright, the only daughter of the late Havelock and Martha (Mann) Parker.

Velma was the last surviving member of her family – having been predeceased by her 4 brothers – Bruce (in infancy), Willis (& Jean) Parker, Earle Parker and Roy Parker, and her great-nephew Christopher Quanz. She will be greatly missed by her sister-in-law Ann Parker and nieces and nephews Bruce & Angie Parker, Dianne & John Coghill, Elaine & John Quanz, Wendy & Sandy Wagler; Ken & Pat Parker, Kathy & Tim Weaver, Bob & Kim Parker, and Cheryl & John Donlevy. Many great-nieces and nephews along with great-great nieces and nephews have treasured their time with “Auntie Velma” and will miss her as well.

Velma was a founding member of the International Gospel Centre in Kitchener, serving God and her church family with passion and dedication, and forming friendships that lasted a lifetime. Even when her health made it difficult to attend on Sundays, Velma maintained those friendships and her love for the church community.

Although trained as a teacher, Velma found her career at Mutual Life in Waterloo – spending almost 40 years employed there.
Thank-you to the staff of Lanark Place for their interest and care as Velma enjoyed the last two years of retirement living, and also to the staff of Grand River and Freeport Hospitals for their care in the last six weeks.

Velma was known for her sense of humour, her quick and ready smile, her prolific memory and her belief and faith in the Lord’s strength and healing. She will be missed by many!

Funeral Service will be conducted from the International Gospel Centre, 35 Charles Street, East, Kitchener on Thursday April 25, 2013 at11:00a.m. Officiated by Pastor Mark Emmerson.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the International Gospel Centre or Heart & Stroke Foundation (cheques accepted) would be appreciated by the family.

The dear wife of LaVerne for 65 years, beloved mother of Ruth (deceased) (Norm), Sue (Bruce), Verne (Marilyn), Dave (Joyce), Tim (Gail), Teresa (Kevin), Rob (Darla), Dorothy (Graeme).

Loving grandma of 22 grandchildren (Stephanie, Kelly, Cassandra, Christina, Verne (Kara), Adam, Joel, Megan (Eric), Leah (Pat), Shana (Adam), Jeremy (Amy), Violet Rose, Melanie (Dave), Matthew, Alexander, Luke, April, Caleb, Julia, Andrew (Jen), Daniel, Derek) and 16 great-grandchildren (Mariah, Faith, Halle, Silas, Jacoby, Evan, James, Stephen, Nathanael, Mary, Leah, Kayden, Brandon, Liam, Kyla, Alyssa).

Predeceased by much-loved cousin Dorothy Baird. Mary will be greatly missed by many other family and friends.

 Friends will be received at Crestwicke Baptist Church, 400 Speedvale Avenue East, Guelph on Tuesday, April 23, 2013 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm.

Funeral service will be held at Crestwicke Baptist Church on Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at 11:00 am. Reception to follow.
