Morrice VioletMORRICE, Violet Grace (nee Arthur)  -  Of Stratford passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 1, 2017 at the Huronview Home For The Aged in Clinton. Born in Downie Township, Vie was the daughter of the late Samuel Arthur and Anna (Murray) Arthur. Vie lived her whole life in Stratford until moving to Huronview in 2014.

Beloved wife of the late Donald (Moe) Morrice, whom she married Oct.1, 1955, and who predeceased her in June, 2004.

Loving mother of Maryanne Morrice and her husband David Hirschorn. Dear Grammie to Alex Hirschorn and his wife Jessica, and Jessica Hirschorn and her husband Khasha Ighanian; great-Grammie to Cameron.

Beloved husband of Theresia (nee Stürmer) Woschnigg for 63 years.

Loving father of Sylvia Dienst (Michael), Dennis Woschnigg, and Sandra Campbell (Christopher). Cherished grandfather of Andrew (Lindsey), Alicia (Nathan), Sloane and Cade and great-grandfather of Logan.

Brother of Maria Tausendschön (late Karl) and the late Anton Woschnigg. 

 

MacKay HelgaMACKAY, Helga Maria Sophia  -  Passed away, peacefully, at the Guelph General Hospital on Wednesday, May 31, 2017. 

Helga (nee Gortzel) MacKay, age 81, was the life companion of Bernie Carpino. 

She was the dear mother of Sue MacKay, Ava Leblanc (Gary), the late Nancy Hadfield (late Jim), Tom MacKay (Kathy), Mike MacKay (Rebecca Hine-MacKay), Scott MacKay (Rita), Renata McConnell (Blair) and Cory MacKay (Lisa).

Beloved husband of Shirley Meinzinger (nee Finney) for 66 years. 

Dear father of Ken, Gary (Jan), Joanne Goodreau (late Robin), Donna White (Neville), Rick, Sherry, Barb, and Lori. Also remembered by his many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. 

 

SCHMIDT, Kathe  -  Passed away at Columbia Forest Long Term Care on her 84th birthday, Tuesday, May 30, 2017. 

Beloved wife of the late Frank Schmidt (2005). 

Dear mother of Linda-Marie Schmidt and Eva Jaronski and her husband Andrzej. 

 

McMillan EricMcMILLAN, Eric C.  -  Eric was born and raised in Toronto spending the majority of his 92 years with his family in Stratford, the last few at Spruce Lodge.

Beloved husband of Betty (Ashbourne) and father of four: son Eric G. McMillan (Wendy), their children Erin (Chris) and their daughter Zoe, Owen (Lan) and their son Aiden, and Richard; daughter Suzanne Kelly (Chris) and their children Baird, Liam, and Sydney; daughter Beatrice McMillan and her children Jaymeson and Matheson Denboer; and daughter Judith Gilbert (John) and their children James, Alyse (Tom), Michelle Thompson (Chad), and Jules.

Also survived by sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

 

Kaufman DavidKAUFMAN, David William  -  At age 78, formerly of Stratford, passed away peacefully at home in Coboconk, Ontario on Tuesday, May 30, 2017, after a short battle with cancer. Born in Stratford, David was the beloved son of the late Carl and Myrtle (Black) Kaufman.

Loving husband of Margaret (Thom) of 59 years married. Beloved father of Guy (Liz), Karen (Ken) and his daughter-in-law Stacy.

Cherished brother of Bernie (Audrey) and sister-in-law June. Besides his parents, David was predeceased by a son Barry and three children in infancy and his grandson David along with his brother Gary. Cherished grandfather of 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. David will be lovingly remembered by his many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and friends.

 

Lantz WilliamLANTZ, William John  -  Passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday, May 30th, 2017 at Innisfree House, Kitchener after a brief illness in his 87th year.

Beloved husband to Phyllis (nee Wilson) of 65 wonderful years, loving father to Linda (Bert) Perriman, Barb (Brad) Edworthy, Marion (Chris) Edworthy and Duff (Sandy) Lantz, proud Grandpa to Trevor (Becca), Joel (Kat), Brady (Christina), Barry (Beth), Terri (Lee), Todd, Maddison, Mariah and great-grandpa to Caitlyn, Morgan, MacKenzie, Myah, Blake-Lynn, Angus and Paige Margaret.

William will be missed and forever remembered by his extended family and friends, especially his loyal customers of the downstairs barber shop. William began his career as a fire fighter for the city of Galt on June 1, 1961 following over two years of volunteer service. He would eventually retire with the rank of Platoon Chief with The Cambridge Fire Department on April 6, 1989.

 

Snider CraigSNIDER, Craig Murray   -  Peacefully passed away on Tuesday, May 30, 2017, after a courageous battle with cancer, at the Grand River Hospital, at the age of 50 years.

Craig Snider, of Elmira, was the beloved son of Ross and Audrey (Hiller) Snider of Elmira.

Lovingly remembered by his aunts and uncles, Nancy Chown of Waterloo, Peter and Dianne Hiller of Stratford, David and Pat Hiller of Calgary, and by his many cousins and very good friends. Predeceased by his uncle Bruce Snider (2017).

Granddaughter of Ken and Melody Bailey of Listowel, and Wycliffe and Shirley Reid of Newfoundland, and great-granddaughter of Elizabeth Bailey of Listowel, and Charles Reid of Newfoundland.

 

OAKMAN, Jean Margaurette  -  Passed rather suddenly at Caressant Care Fergus on May 30, 2017. Jean was born in Fergus in 1928 and lived in Fergus all her life. She was an only child of Ed and Mae Gerrie (Baker).

Married to Allen in 1947, soul mates for 53 years. Allen, who also lived here all his life, passed in 2001. She is survived by her three children, David (Janet Miller), Lynda (Paul Jamieson), Dan (Eric Granz), 5 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren.

Jean was known for her love of family and friends, strength, acceptance, sense of humour and artistic talents. She was a member of the Fergus Legion Ladies Auxiliary for 45 years and an avid bingo player.

 

Hopkins GaryHOPKINS, Gary Edwin  -  It is with happy memories and saddened hearts we announce the passing of Gary Edwin Hopkins, a longtime resident of Paris. Gary died peacefully, surrounded by his family, at the Brantford General Hospital, on Tuesday May 30th, 2017, in his 75th year.

Beloved husband of 50 years to Delaine (nee Preece); loving and proud father of Christine Hopkins (Phil McLeod) of Paris, and Heather Hopkins (Christian Pavey) of Toronto; cherished papa to Sam, Aidan, Quinn, Fraser and Julian. 

Dearly missed by his siblings Sheila (Len) Fox of Vernon, BC, Mike (Tammy) Hopkins of Calgary, AB, Maurreen (Jim) Moore of Airdrie, AB, Colleen (the late Steve) Dereniwski of Kincardine, ON, and predeceased by sister Paddy. Survived by his extended family in Canada and Boston, MA.

 

Barenberg DavidBARENBERG, David  -  It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of David Joel Barenberg on Monday, May 29, 2017, at the age of 68 after a courageous 9 year battle with brain cancer.

David will be greatly missed by his wife and best friend Helga, his step-children Jennifer Kelly (Beau), Darren Dumas (Melissa), his grandchildren Aiden & Carter Kelly and Declan & Harlan Dumas, his niece Rachel Herold (Rick) and their children Will & Emma, brothers-in-law Bernie Knelsen (Monique) and John Knelsen (Judi) and their children and grandchildren, as well as many friends and colleagues. David is survived by his children Michael Barenberg and Alan Barenberg (Abby) and his granddaughter Ruby.

He was predeceased by his daughter Joanna at nine days old, his parents Paul and Ann Barenberg, as well as his sister Naomi.

 

Yates ChuckYATES, Chuck  -  Born June 22nd, 1930. Passed away May 28th, 2017 at Hospice Wellington in Guelph after a brief illness.

A Prestonian to the core, Chuck's life was also defined by his love for his extended family; his lifelong dedication to St. Clement's Church; his 30-plus years of service to Catholic education as a trustee and chairman for the Preston and Waterloo Region Catholic school boards as well as chairing the Ontario Separate School Trustees Association, the Ontario School Trustees Council and the Teachers Education Council of Ontario. 

Above all, his life was defined by his undying devotion to the love of his life, Mary, to whom he was married for over 63 years. He died peacefully in her warm embrace surrounded by their children. Chuck had a passion for walking. Many Sunday afternoons were spent walking to Blair with his children to enjoy an ice cream cone. 

 

Aiken BonnieAIKEN, Bonnie Gladys Mae  -  Passed away peacefully at Groves Memorial Hospital, Fergus on Sunday May 28th at the age of 82.

She leaves behind her loving husband and best friend Robert of 62 years.

Bonnie will be missed by her children Sandra Groff(Dan), Lynne Magee-Steele(Mike), Laurie Allen(Michael) and Beth Jeysman(Ken) as well as 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

Beloved wife to the late Cecil Johnston (1965) and the late George MacLeod (1982); loved mother to Marilyn Ellis (Art), Norma Harrington (Bob) and the late Keith Johnston (2006) (Trish); Cherished grandmother to many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. 

Ethel is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by her loving husband of 52 years, Reg (2003), granddaughter Lyndsay (1988) and sister Mary (2016).

 

Bowman SandraBOWMAN, Sandra Gail  –  Age 53, passed away quietly at home on Saturday, May 27, 2017, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on March 16, 1964 in London, Ontario. 

She is predeceased by her father William Bray, father-in-law Ronald Bowman and infant brother Eddie.

Sandra truly lived her life to the fullest through simple pleasures. She is survived by her husband Jeffrey Bowman, daughter Taylor Bowman, sisters Cindy Bray and Linda Mertinkat, mother Shirley Bray, nieces and nephews; Nathalie, Sierra and Jesse.
