DOBBS, Frederick Paul  -  Died peacefully with his wife by his side on May 24, 2017 at the age of 64.

Fred grew up in Toronto where he studied law and passed the bar exam in B.C and Ontario. He had a passion for travel, sports, music and movies, and while he was a private person, he had a knack for building strong and lifelong friendships.

Fred will be deeply missed by his wife Karin and his children Hannah and Simon. He is the much loved son of William and the late Betty (Hechter) Dobbs; brother of Michelle Dobbs, Michael and Lisa Dobbs, Gail Dobbs, Jeffrey Dobbs; son-in-law of Göran Törnqvist  (Lena-Maj) and Elisabeth von Sivers (Nils Dahlen);  brother-in-law of  Britta Kihlstedt (Johan), Björn Törnqvist (Nina) and Fredrik Lundberg  (Sandra).


Thornton ErleTHORNTON, Erle  -  After almost 90 years, Erle has reached the end of this time we call life and begun a much anticipated new adventure. As he transitions to a life beyond, he rejoins his wife Evelyn (Keena), his wife of 63 years, his parents Clifford and Lillian and all 5 of his siblings, Cliff, Jean, Al, Bob and Roger. 

He is deeply mourned by his daughters Pauline (Dana Kennedy) and Diane (Francis Caza), grandchildren Julian and Charlotte, brothers-in-law Doug Keena (Fran) and Wallace Mildon (Jean), sister-in-law Eileen Thornton (Roger) and a host of nieces and nephews who had a special relationship with Uncle Erle.

Born in Toronto on June 30, 1927, 'Duke' came to Sebringville to pursue a chance encounter with the girl of his dreams and stayed to raise a family. He became an integral part of the community as a businessman (Sebringville Plumbing and Heating), builder, volunteer fireman, and faithful member of Emmanuel United Church.


Gibson JoanneGIBSON, Joanne Ruth  -  Passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 24, 2017, just six days shy of her 75th birthday. 

Here is a message she left for us: 'I, Joanne Gibson, have left this world for another and say so long, goodbye to my three children: James, Jackie, and Jeffrey (Lisa), and my three grandchildren: Taylor, Ethan, and Kaitlin. My life has been short and not without incidences. I do not regret a moment of my life on this earth, and I cherish the family I have. Love and farewell, 'til we meet again.'

Joanne was predeceased by her husband of over 50 years, Ken Gibson. She was a smart, strong, and no-nonsense person who loved to travel, camp, read, and work on her jigsaw puzzles. She will be missed.


SCHOENHALS, Lloyd George - (April 14, 1923 - May 24, 2017) - Passed away at the beautiful age of 94.

Loving husband of Jackie Farr (Roulston) and the late Myrtle (Billie) Dier (2000). Father of Michael (Norma), Bob (Chris) and Jennifer (Terry) and the late Timothy (2016).

Lloyd is survived by his brother Gord and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his parents George and Idora (Doerr) and is sister Irene Roulston.

Lloyd graduated with a degree in Pharmacy in 1947 and was a founder of Falls Pharmacy (1955-1989). He was a member of the Royal Canadian Air Force from 1942 to 1945 and the Canadian Legion Milverton, Branch 565. He was an active member of the Pharmacists Association of Niagara Falls and later the Pharmacists Association of the Niagara Peninsula.


Evans EuniceEVANS, Eunice  -  Our beloved Aunty passed away peacefully in her 95th year on May 24, 2017 at Cambridge Memorial Hospital. 

She is survived by her sister Alma and brothers William and Richard, 17 nieces and nephews, 22 grand nieces and nephews and 13 great-grand nieces and nephews. 

Predeceased by siblings Mavis, Edna, Rita, Dudley and Philip.


JANTZI, Laura  -  Peacefully at Knollcrest Lodge, Milverton on Wednesday, May 24, 2017, Laura (nee Zehr) in her 94th year. 

Beloved wife of the late Elmer S. Jantzi (1982). 

Loving sister of Mary Gerber (late Amos), Norman Zehr (Amy), Jacob Zehr  (Alma), Elmer Zehr (Ethel) and Esther Jantzi (Ohmer).  She will be sadly missed by all her nieces and nephews.

Szeller SusanneSZELLER, Susanne (Susan) Hildegard  -  Passed away peacefully May 24, 2017 at Guelph General Hospital of natural causes in her 94th year surrounded by her son Michael and his wife Jeanette. Resident of Norfolk Manor in Guelph, Ontario, formerly of Brandon, Manitoba.

Susanne is survived by her nephews Harald and Has-Jürgen and their children and grandchildren, predeceased by her sisters and brothers.

Susanne was born in Königsberg, East Prussia, Germany in 1923 and served as a nurse with the German Army in WWII. She emigrated to England after the war, where she met her husband Bogdan (Bill). After marrying, they emigrated to Canada where she worked as a Nurse’s Aid in Elliot Lake, Ontario and had their son Michael. Susanne and her son moved to Guelph after divorcing her husband, where she trained as a social worker.

Edna was born in Prince Edward Island, daughter of the late Vernon and Helena Dennis.

McQueen MarjorieMcQUEEN, Marjorie Irene (Marj – Queenie)  -  Passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 23, 2017. She was an only child, born in Galt, Ontario on August 2nd, 1918 to William and Cornelia (Eitel) McQueen. 

Marj went to Manchester School and GCI. After leaving school, she worked at the Galt Hospital as a ward and aid, and then moved to Kitchener-Waterloo Hospital where she graduated as a nurse in 1940, and then a Registered Nurse in 1941. She remained at KW Hospital until 1983, working several different positions in several different areas of the hospital over the years. Since 1922, Barrett Ave in Cambridge was always home for Marj. She was a member of Knox's Galt Presbyterian Church for over 85 years, and participated in the choir and several church organizations.

Predeceased by her husband Rev. David R. Ketchen in 2016.

Anna Maria (nee Offermans) Chahine, in her 82nd year, was the loving mother of Dianne Buddingh of Cambridge and Jack Buddingh (Sherry) of Hamilton. Anna was the proud grandmother of Jason, Daniel, Jasmine, Jake, Jadine and Shane and the great-grandmother of Alyssa and Austin. 

Anna was an active volunteer with the Canadian Blood Donor Clinic in Guelph for many years.

Bill Lyle, in his 76th year, was the beloved husband of Geraldine (nee Moratto) Lyle. 

He is survived by his brothers Elmer (Marguerite) and Ronald (Sheila) and sisters Anna MacLean and Winnifred (Jack Morrell), by sisters-in-law Elizabeth and Henny, by brother-in-law Ronald Bamsey and by many nieces and nephews. 


Linton RobertLINTON, Dr. Robert  -  (June 1, 1933 to May 23, 2017)  -  Dr. Robert Linton was born and raised in Windsor. He graduated in medicine at the University of Western Ontario in 1959 and, following his internships in London and Hamilton, began a country practice in Mount Brydges for two years. In 1963 he then commenced postgraduate specialization in anaesthesia in London. He established his anaesthetic practice in Guelph in 1967 after achieving his certificate from the American Board of Anesthesiology and his Canadian certification from the Royal College. As a member of the Wellington County Medical Society, he became a delegate to the Ontario Medical Association (OMA) Council for many years.


Pomper AlexanderPOMPER, Alexander Nikolaus - Passed away at Grand River Hospital surrounded by family on Monday, May 22, 2017 at the age of 26.

Beloved son of Stephan and Beatrix. Loving brother of Kassandra. Dear grandson of Ella and the late Helmut Eber, and Theresa and the late Viktor Pomper.
