McINTYRE, William James 'Pete' -

It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that we announce the peaceful passing of the kind and generous, William James "Pete" McIntyre on March 20th, 2014, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend.

Pete leaves behind his wife Annemarie and his daughters Kim Luis and Michelle Desjardins, son-in-laws Rui Luis and Marcel Desjardins: as well as his three beautiful granddaughters, Carly, Meaghan and Avery Luis. Pete loved his extended family of in-laws, nieces and nephews.

Pete extremely enjoyed the company of a great group of "Westdale" friends.

Born in Hamilton in 1929, Pete was the last of 10 surviving children born to James and Bertha McIntyre. He was an employee of the Steel Company of Canada for 44 years. Pete was a great athlete. In his early years swimming, basketball and football were his passions. He proudly played with the Hamilton Wild Cat Football team. Later on it became golf, tennis and bike riding, with football remaining his particular sport of choice.

No longer playing, he was a passionate Hamilton Tiger Cat fan. He also cheered for the Montreal Alouettes and was looking forward to watching the Ottawa RedBlacks in their first season.

Pete was always in attendance to watch his daughters, granddaughters and nephews in all their sporting events. What a great cheer leader!

Special thanks to the doctors and caregivers who treated and supported Peter and his family over the last months.

A private service to be held. Arrangements out of Burlington.

If desired, donations to Joseph Brant Hospital Foundation would be appreciated.
