Mitchell GerryMITCHELL, Gerry Alton (Gerald) - (May 1, 1954 - November 5, 2017) -

Peacefully at Peterborough Regional Health Centre on Sunday morning, Gerry passed away in his 63rd year after a short courageous battle with cancer.

Beloved husband of Leona Collins, loving father of Kenny and Loretta (Britt) and grandfather to baby Emily.

Dear brother of Sue (Ross) MacDonald, Mike (Tania) Mitchell, Terry (Gail) Mitchell, Lynn (Brian) Best and Debbie (Dave) Mccoy. Fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, extended family and devoted friends.

Born to the late Alton (Al) and Elizabeth (Betty) Mitchell of Gaspé.

Gerry was born and grew up in Scarborough with his 5 siblings before graduating from St. Lawrence College in Kingston. Admired for his immense talent playing the banjo, Gerry had two passions in life - his family and his music. A member of the Northland Ramblers, Gerry enjoyed performing in churches, restaurants and community centres where he extended his Kitchen Party Music Jams to venues across Ontario.

A recent retiree from the City of Toronto as a Civil Technologist, Gerry thoroughly enjoyed his retired years with his family and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to call at the STODDART FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 24 Mill Street, Lindsay K9V 2L1 (705-324-3205) Friday, November 10th from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.

Mass of Christian burial will be held Saturday, November 11th at 11:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 40 Russell St. E., Lindsay, ON, reception to follow Mass at Celebration Centre. Burial at St. Mary's Cemetery at a later date.

As expressions of sympathy, donations can be made to the Peterborough Regional Health Centre palliative care unit and would be appreciated by the family.
